I personally didn’t like the complete personality change for Kagari, though it seems interesting/funny in its own way. They’re taking this story way further from the original VN stories than I expected, so I’m not sure what to think. It has potential, but it definitely won’t be anything like the experience the VN provided for us. Kagari’s new personality is basically the “ideal loli character” for the anime viewers. I just hope the new story can make up for it.
One more thing is that the episode was kind of all over the place, constantly switching between completely separate things, I feel like the show could have been directed much better overall.
(Rewrite HF)There’s a route in Harvest Festa where Kagari pretty much acts like this. She calls herself Miracle-chan and spends her days manipulating the student body into believing that her ribbons are the pinnacle of fashion and that feecof should be consumed by everyone.
She’s not this silly. She still tells Kotarou to not bother with her and have a fulfilling harvest festival. Miracle Kagari still has a gloomy side to her.
Kagari is amazingly cute in this episode Then again I’m also extremely biased for HanaKana.
That Kapyun sound she made around 13:00~ and really every other sound she made was great
Does Suzaki sound different are am I just crazy?
Also I guess this where seeing a novel turn into a video format turns into a put down for imagination. I always imagined Takasago as a super upper heavy bodied guy and Suzaki as a little more aged.
I think that was Takasago
Yeah I would say that is him with the way his ears look. THEY LOOK LIKE ACTUAL DUMPLINGS!!!
Also I never really payed to much attention to Inoue in the VN because she didn’t have a sprite so I didn’t think much of her but she is pushing for second best girl for me at the moment
The pose…so close, inspiration from MasaKaga confirmed
Aspi.
Aspi can you not see?
Aspi this is Oppai Route Kagari.
The constant references to Akane’s chest. Kagari acting like this.
Do you not see, the Anime is not doing Terra, or Moon. The Anime is adapting the Oppai route ending.
It’s always been the canon ending in my heart, to see that the Anime producers agree with me is wonderful.
I wouldn’t call it the Rewrite I love, but it’s not the Rewrite I hate.
Afterall, the Rewrite I love is dead in this adaptation, they’re killing off all the boss battles from it, we’ll probably get Midou at best.
But it’s not spouting that pretentious garbage and expecting me to respect the awful writing either, so I don’t hate it.
An earlier episode already established a relationship between two characters with those names, they’re clearly going out at this point and some guy seemed to have voiced his disapproval with a powerful uguu AND WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BIZARRE BACKGROUND CHARACTER RUNNING GAG KANON REFERENCE THIS IS INCREDIBLE.
I’d give the episode a 10 but they skipped the actual fuck out of the best not Sakuya Route scene in the VN with Inoue is it sucks and I want three months salary worth of Frecof in compensation.
I’m liking this direction they are taking with Kagari. Her character wasn’t developed well at all in the game, now she feels like a person and a character we can feel for. The direction is working too because Kotarou feels really impartial to both sides where I never feel that until later.
The opening is a much better timed this go around and the ending is nice since they didn’t try too much.
Look forward to the other routes in this story coming through.
I have to say, I’m loving the adaptation so far, I think it’s actually doing wonders for a VN that was overly-big and full of inconsistencies, but…NOW I don’t have any idea on how it’ll go.
I was sure they would acknowledge the route-split and we’d get into routes individually, but now I just don’t know. The most interesting part is that they are showing quite a lot of foreshadowing and plot details from every route, while doing something very different.
Are they seriously going to try to “omni-run” everything? If so, quite a lot will be lost, but hey, the original content is showing itself to be quite interesting so far.
The case is that Rewrite cannot be adapted like CLANNAD or Little Busters does.
Both works, while has lots of heroine routes, they don’t affect each other and the core story follows a certain heroine’s route.
However, Rewrite’s routes cannot co-exist, so either they choose a route and cut out everyone else’s, or do a brand new retelling. You’re looking at a brand new retelling.
Doing all girls would take too much time, so they made a new story. At least that’s what they call it, but it looks more like they’ll take points from mainly Chihaya and Akane’s routes and make that a single story.
I’m guessing you mean if the story is a continuation of the original. The answer to that would mostly no. HF has 6 scenarios, and only 2 of those are direct continuations of routes.
What I meant is that players were intended to play HF after the orginial VN, so they were meant to experience the alternate Kagari personality having already known how she used to be
I can’t tell if this episode was good or bad. It’s just… Unexpected.
Anyways, I watched this episode stress-free knowing that it’s not the Rewrite I knew, and I can easily tell that I’ve enjoyed the episode.
I have to be honest here and say that I don’t like this Kagari, the “a stone fell on my head and I feel like a new person now” is just so clichè.-. Not to forget that it’s Kagari we’re talking about THE KEY!!!
Well, despite that, it’s interesting anyways, the “return” of all the characters was good.
Esaka still looks like doritos chips in the anime which makes me mad
Also, the music… The music is not being used correctly, for 8 episodes now…what is happening??
End of the world??? I thought it fits being an ending more than an opening… But having such a good ending song by Tada Aoi explains why I guess.
Overall the episode had many good points so I guess it was good.
So I finally caught up to this controversial episode, over a week late urgh. What most people say about it does feel true. It is quite weird seeing Kagari in this direction but, at the same time, it isn’t all that unacceptable.
Definitely a lot of Kagari’s weirdness comes from Kotarou introducing her to the WWW. Not sure if many realize this, but the slang she uses (feecof, myyum) are all remnants of Japanese Internet slang. She probably stayed on 2ch for most of her information gathering purposes other than that, I don’t see that much of a difference with the Kagari in Terra route, albeit with a bit of a cuter side to her (VN spoilers) This Kagari is still very pushy, but very curious, which I thought they showed well enough in this episode. And the moment she does learn something that helps her agenda, she pushes it way too far. The only difference is her less “girly” side, which might have been brought up because of her spending too much time with Kotori in this timeline. After all, in Terra, she goes straight to Kotarou after meeting him.
More than anything, I’d like to pay attention to how all this affects Kotarou. He did say in episode 2 how the occult club gave him a purpose, but after they all split in the last episode, he probably felt very empty. In comes Kagari, this being who so obviously needs his care. And I quite like how his purpose is now shifted to that of helping Kagari in this world.
Likewise, just finally got around to watching this episode.
So uh, in a vacuum it’s my favorite episode of the series so far, in that I was actually entertained while watching it.
But in the context of Rewrite specifically, it’s…not fitting, and I don’t see how they can build off this in a way that would convey messages similar to what the VN had in mind.
I like the new Kagari, but it’s not what Kagari is supposed to be like. She’s not supposed to feel human, and her general behavior doesn’t make any sense and has no precedent. I guess there’s the arm chewing thing from earlier, but this just seems so out of left field…
I also dunno if I missed out on something, but why can other people see her? Why is nobody questioning her ribbons? What is this show even doing?
Kagari has no human personality in the other routes because she spent several years in captivity (and most likely total isolation from everything). In Terra, however, she does not get captured and keeps watching humans from up close, learning from them, thus developing a human intelligence.
So unless they changed this part in the anime backstory, Kagari shouldn’t even be able to have this personality.
