My favorite songs are:

EDIT: I’ve been listening to this song a lot recently

My favorite bands are Rise Against, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park (RIP Chester :sob:), but i listen to a wide variety of music like Bob Sinclair, Sean Paul, Daddy Yankee, the soundtrack of nearly every visual novel i’ve read, the soundtrack of games like Unreal Tournament, Hitman and Arma 3, so i’m pretty open to most things

I’ve only heard a couple of their tracks, but personally I quite enjoyed those songs despite my inability to expand into their discography. I think the first one I’d heard was Tragedy + Time which I still occasionally listen to? I’m not into Western music all that much anymore. :yahaha:

To answer the OP question, I don’t really have any favourite genre (though these days I only really listen to Japanese music due to a personal dislike of the themes running in popular Western songs) and just fancy anything that has an upbeat and motivating sound to it or otherwise some really nice lyrics to complement a melancholic tone, I guess.

I only really have favourites artists over favourite genres, and those would be Nana Mizuki, KOTOKO, Abingdon Boys School, some UVERworld, MYTH & ROID and poor Kawada Mami amongst others…

That said.

There is a drastic lack of love for Nana Mizuki here (to be fair, there can never be enough anyway). Let me fix that with some of my favourite tracks. :ramenset:

These are the songs from them that i currently have in my playlist, personally of all the bands i’ve listened to Rise Against is the one that resonates the most with me

EDIT: Oh and i forgot about this

EDIT: found some more songs, hehe

I have been summoned!

Greetings, @Natsume my fellow Nana Mizuki fan. The Nanoha songs are generally pretty top tier Nana. If we exclude obligatory Etabure, Bright Stream and Brave Phoenix are my favorites from the series (the latter of which I’m still waiting to hear live. Hopefully I’ll actually hear it during Live Gate ><). Tenkuu no Canaria though, the full orchestra version is so godly. I’d have to link a sketchy China site for that but yeah, Live Grace I/II have some really amazing renditions. What do you think of some of them? Chronicle of Sky is definitely one I wouldn’t expect to see on a favorites list but as far as old school pre-2005 goes, it probably does rank pretty highly for me. I think the Basilisk songs are really underrated (I say that, but they both tend to rank well in polls so who knows?), so I’m pretty excited to hear what the new Basilisk song will be like.

I think Thermidore is one of the least known/best Nana songs out there. This performance was one of my favorites (especially since she did this and Ai no Hoshi back to back)

I can talk about Nana for a long time so I’ll stop for now. BTW, Nana would be the best woman in the world except she’s actually a goddess. All hail Nana-hime-sama!

I’m a simple man, I see Pendulum, I like.

But honestly though, I kinda miss them. The last thing I heard from Pendulum was the album “Immersion” which was… more than 5 years ago? Then Gareth and Rob became Knife Party, and if you ask me, Knife Party used to be great… now I feel that they’re just making generic EDM nowadays.

Can’t wait for next Pendulum album! (Yeah it was announced several months ago)

Two great songs from the Life is Strange: Before the Storm soundtrack

I usually only listen to music from games, and 90% of them do not have singers. Maybe my songs do not please many. But I want to participate.

Visual novels musics

Finally, a song from my country. Pernambuco, Brazil.

I think I’ve already posted too much…

It’s taken me too long to get around to posting in this topic, even though I know exactly what I’m gonna say.

If I were to name my favourite genres, I’d say rock followed by blues, and then Swing. I don’t particularly care about genre though.

My favourite band of all time: The Eagles. Otherwise known to most as “that band that sung Hotel California.”
Which happens to be my favourite song of all time.

Coming in second would be I Can’t Tell You Why.

To be honest, it kind of blows my mind how good The Eagles are. Other than the two already listed, they’ve got Heartache Tonight, One of These Nights, Lyin’ Eyes, New Kid in Town, Tequila Sunrise, etc, etc.
I can’t think of another band that even comes close to The Eagles’ quality and consistency. And because people actually didn’t have shit taste back in the seventies, all their best ones tend to be on Best Of albums.
I guess Queen has some consistently good shit, but they just can’t compare to The Eagles.
Edit: Oh shit, forgot to mention Franz Ferdinand.
They’re probably my second favourite band behind the eagles. They don’t really have anything up to the standard of The Eagles, but they have a bunch of pretty good shit. For those that don’t know, they’re the band that did Take Me Out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ijk4j-r7qPA which, while not nearly my favourite, is pretty good.
Don’t usually like hard rock, but
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsXzLgPXlNE
this shit is just too dank. There’s also Dark of the Matinee https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKyG1dRoDlA and a lot of other decent-but-not-Eagles-level songs. They’re really an acquired taste though (except for Take Me Out, which is why it’s their most popular), and I didn’t like them the first time I listened to them. But for some reason, about three weeks after I first listened through their original album I thought “Hmm… I didn’t really like it, but for some reason I feel like listening to that album again.” And then that three week interval got shorter. And shorter. And now they’re my second favourite band, and even some of the songs I hated at first (i.e Outsiders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm0S1HAEMfA) I’ve come to enjoy quite a bit.
Edit 2: Now I’ve forgotten Don McLean. American Pie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsV5-Hv-7U and Vincent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxHnRfhDmrk are some gooooooood shit. Some of his other tracks like And I Love You So, Everyday, Dreidel, Castles in the Air, etc are alright too.

The only artist I can really think of that can really compete with The Eagles though, in my mind, is Yanagi Nagi, and only really when she’s got Key composition backing her.
I’d listen to Mintjam more, since they’ve got some dank composition, but I don’t really like their main vocalist. They killed it with Philosophyz, when Runa Mizutani was the vocalist, and I actually like the Mintjam ver of Philosophyz better than the original, but the vocals of the original were definitely better.
Lia’s pretty dank too.

If we look into video game/VN OSTs, I may as well just link the whole OST of Rewrite. I won’t do that, but here’s my favourite non-Rewrite VN track:

I’ve thought this since it came out but with the music video it feels even more accurate. The slower part of the song Particle Arts by Virtual Self (Porter Robinson) gives me some serious Rewrite vibes in terms of the sound and visuals now. The time 1:41 in the video is what I’m talking about. I’m curious to know if it’s just me or if anyone else agrees. Interestingly, most of the EP can be loosely related to Rewrite in some way, having songs with titles such as Particle Arts, Key, Ghost Voices, or A.I. Angel (Become God). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b06pKMxF6h8&feature=youtu.be

“On My Own”
Written and Performed by Taisei Iwasaki for the anime “Kekkai Sensen”

Sung in English. The vocals brilliantly compliment the instruments that range from bass to acoustics.

Recommend to listen to the song when raining

Anyone ever feel like this?
