It is a secret tradition for Key to leave out a character in every “店舗特典”. (Sorry I don’t know how to translate it to English)
Just like Rewrite without Akane, Rewrite HF without Chihaya & Sukuya, and Angel Beats! 1st Beat without Yui.
By the way, the CV for the four heroines in SP will be published tomorrow.

I’m really happy with this cast. Most of them are newbies, so they’ll probably bring something fresh and less recognizable to the table unlike if we had another Kana Hanazawa role. I’m especially excited for Konomi Koharu after seeing her in Tsuki ga Kirei and especially Mahoujin Guruguru. She’s proven to have a good amount of range, so I wonder how her voice will turn out.

I miss the old preorder bonuses like for Cannad where you could get some amazing stuff like Sanae’s apron, botan plushie and stuff. All the extras seem like tapestries and they are all nsfw >.> I hope they have some other goods sometime.

I’m not exactly a huge fan of hanging pictures of barely-clothed anime girls on my wall either. Kind of sucks that this is what the merchandising has become.

Its what you call “fan service” 
And depending on who you talk to, it can be a good thing or a bad thing.
In my case, its good.
Some fan service material is really nice, whether it is something you hang on a wall or display on a shelf or read in a book or not. I buy fan service things often enough because I like it and it either feels nice or is relaxing.
That said, some of the recent Summer Pockets promotional images are either weird or just make you wonder. The beach ball image (?) is one thing, but I hope that the game isn’t exactly like that. Granted, this coming from someone who likes Harmonia with its moments and is willing to read something like Nekopara may not be the most ringing endorsement…

The whole fanservice in the preorder merch thing seems really silly for me to be honest… If I want porn anyway why would I settle with a tease-y poster? It’s not like doujins of said characters would be hard to find anyway (or at least it won’t be, upon release).
I’m not saying that people who are interested shouldn’t get it, if these are the kind of things you like then absolutely go for it. I’m just a little sad especially hearing the preorder bonus for clannad was (among other things) a botan plushie. That really is special, and something I’d absolutely preorder a game for.
I hope that key would realise this and go back on it, at least for their future games.

Remember how the English release of Harmonia came out before the Japanese release? How did that happen and what are the chances of that happening with Summer Pockets? The English release doesn’t have to come out before the Japanese release, but it would be nice if an English release was confirmed to come out.

The one thing to note about Key series that there is certainly going to be plenty of other merchandise out there.
They make so many variations of card sleeves, card boxes, and deck boxes for example - especially of Clannad, Little Busters, Rewrite, and Angel Beats. They are still making new card-oriented items. Just be warned that there is a lot of “swimsuit” level stuff mixed in with just about all of their merchandise, but most Key fans probably know this already.
If Summer Pockets is a major title (and it gets localized, etc. - better to just be safe), then there will be a whole lot more than just a few figures and tapestries, some extra soundtracks and remixes, and art books. In this way, that does make selling that as preorder content seem disappointing but if it sells more copies of the game when it is so hard and so cutthroat to make money in that industry then opposing it seems so counterproductive.
This does make me want to see what that plushie looked like though.

I don’t mind the fan service, I like it when visual novels have a sexy edge to them. How long until we get male fan service though? I’d gladly hang a picture of Masato hugging a beach ball out my window the for the whole neighbourhood to enjoy
