Introduce Yourself!

Ahoihoi @daysofsummer, greetings from your friendly german neighbour!

Oh Glasslip, dropped that after… 4 episodes? And I even had relatively high hopes for it back then…
And MAL’s not actually that bad after frequenting /a/ on 4chan for quite a while, that is the place you should stay away from (same applies to /v/ for gaming)^^

You’re lucky - I watched it in its entirety and it wasn’t very pleasing. At all. In fact it was one of my most awful anime experiences in recent years.

Glad to have other Europeans on here - sometimes I feel like I’m the only one not hailing from the Americas or Asia! At least where anime is concerned that is.

Welcome @daysofsummer, I hope you will enjoy your time here.

Hi!

I’m thebionic from the Unites States and I LOVE drama/feels anime. I used to watch shounen/action stuff until my friend “tricked” me into watching clannad. Then I just had to watch angel beats, air, kanon(2006), little busters, and charlotte. As for vns, I’ve only played little busters so far, but I hope to play the rest someday. My favorite anime would have to be little busters (saikou!!!).

random things I like:
chinchillas
building foam weaponry
super smash bros 4
obscure board games

I look forward to talking to you all!

Heyo @thebionic! Your friend did a good job introducing you to the glory of KEY^^
Do ouija boards count as obscure board games?

The other newbie gives you a warm welcome! If I’ve managed to integrate, surely you will. Have fun here!

Hello there! I posted elsewhere and then realised that there was an introduction thread so thought I should post here too before I go off tl;dring in other threads, haha.

I’m in the UK, and I discovered Key when a friend got me into the 2002 Kanon anime around when it was airing. From there I found that it was a visual novel, and then I got hooked. I played Kanon and Air in Japanese without understanding them, and have good(?) memories of playing Air on an old computer that wouldn’t display Japanese text properly so I was looking up walkthroughs and had to turn the walkthroughs into the same unlanguage gibberish my computer was displaying. Good times. I’ve since replayed Kanon with the more recent translation patch, and need to do the same with Air sometime… I spent about two years playing Clannad, two weeks playing Little Busters, and have most recently finished Rewrite. (I read Planetarian and Tomoyo After at some point between all those, too.)

Kanon and Clannad mean a lot to me, but my favourite is Little Busters. I’m not too sure how I found these forums but I’m fairly sure it was probably from searching for people discussing Little Busters, haha. MY PEOPLE

Otherwise, I like animemangavideogames, writing, and going to stand-up comedy gigs. Shaka-shaka-hey!

Hello & welcome to kazamatsuri comrade!

More and more Europeans on here, glad to see that. Many seem to share the sentiment on Little Busters!, so do I. Here’s hoping you get along with everyone, me included of course!

See you around!

Welcome!

I was going to ask you what it was like reading VNs in Japanese without understanding them… until I realized that I’d done the same before ^^; Now I know enough Japanese (+ VNR) that I dont have the “dont understand it” problem anymore :kgoha:

Oooh, once you post enough to unlock some more of the forum, you should add to our map. There’s not many of us UK-ians, but we might end up at the same conventions.

Hah, I did similar things with anime on a big clunky computer running Windows 98 that some Universities would give to students. I was really young, so I could never keep up with those big yellow subtitles! Confusing times~

I just marvel at how much I actually kinda understand… And then I realize it’s just the basics and cry a little T_T

Welcome, @cheerful_tambourine, and anyone else that I missed in the past few weeks!
Very humble beginnings, if I say so myself. XD
Same here. When I found out that Kanon was a visual novel, I bought it and loved it. Kanon is one of my favorite Key novels, and I wish more people would read it. :3
Reminds me a lot of the days when I struggled with point-and-click adventure games. I hope you get to finishing AIR sometime.
