[/quote]I program in C++ if the project is large, or C if the project is small, usually. It’s a little difficult to generalize the types of programs I do. I guess you could say “tools and games.” I’ve written an alternative build system that infers how to build projects based on the directory layout of a project (an alternative to Make, Scons, etc, for small enough projects), and a handful of other (smaller or special purpose) utilities. I was once contracted to improve performance on a certain compiler, and I was also contracted to write the Direct3D 11 back-end for a small game engine. I’ll probably post more about this sort of thing in an off-topic category.

I would personally like to write (and program) a visual novel though.

Nice to see another fan of of MoHS! Do you still hold to that glimmer of hope that they’d continue and create another season for it :3 ? I want more Haruhi in anime form damn it!

Interestingly, I discovered the series through The Disappearance Movie. Incredible OVA, and got me hooked into watching/reading the whole thing :smiley:

I mainly work with web technologies (JS, HTML5, Ruby, Python ,etc.) but I’m trying to study more about C, C++ as I’m eyeing for an internship in Google this summer. If you have tips for learning it coming from high-level languages, please shoot me a pm :smiley:

[/quote] Why on earth would you try to remake Kanon? The story is complete as it is, the artwork hasn’t aged that terribly, and the music is still catchy and timeless. I see no reason why it should be remade, although I won’t push away the possibility (after all, Tales of Destiny got a remake when it didn’t really need one, and it looks awesome).

Also, Ayu = best girl. <3 But I agree that Makoto had a lot of feels.

Technically this is happening.

From what we’ve seen of it, that’s a good OST.

People refuse to play it because of it’s art style. It DOES need a HD update - not because something is wrong with it, but because the majority will never pick up something that old.

[/quote]I’d like to see a season 3! Though I have a very minor amount of hope for it. With the new Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan anime they’re doing (supposedly sometime the middle of this year, iirc) there’s a limited possibility that they might do an update for the original. I would expect that if that happened it would be in the form of another OVA… I’ll stop here (since I could probably go on about this for awhile ^_^).

[/quote]I’m definitely looking forward to it! I listened to Charlotte’s teaser video several times just for the music. (I found it inspiring, actually.) Angel Beats seems to have similar tracks as well, which is nice. I’m definitely looking forward to the VNs! I’m of course eagerly awaiting more news on Harmonia as well. (I haven’t played Holy Breaker, yet. For most people here I would think they’d be in the same boat. Although I’m making an effort to learn the language my knowledge on it is just too limited right now.)

[/quote]I just figure that Clannad got an HD update (granted, borrowed from the PS3 version) with its translation to English. I hold out hope that if they manage to officially translate Kanon that they would do the same thing. A rewrite of it is not something I’m particularly interested in – though I guess with hoping for a port to Sigglus that might be necessary. Ayu was feels too! Nayuki wasn’t as many feels, so even I find it weird that I preferred her.

[/quote]I don’t have a SoundCloud account but I have a Google Drive folder where I uploaded a few to that I could share with you, if you like. I have a piece in there that was inspired by one of AIR’s tracks (though I’m not sure what it was called). It’s pretty embarrassing though. Yay someone else wants an HD remake! Not to say Hinoue Itaru’s art was bad, but it’s gotten WAY better as of late. I’d love to see new art in the style of her recent artbook, like this.

Oh no. I don’t want one. I prefer the old art style of Kanon. Her new stuff is ugly.
The majority want the remake though, and that’s what matters.

She’s improved on the face overall and the coloring. No more empty void eyes like in Litbus.

I don’t mind the old art style of Kanon, but I think the new style would be great. Seeing the new style applied to Kanon especially is something I would like. Is there anything specifically that you find ugly about her new style compared to the old?

Anyway, if nothing else, “more pixels” is what I’d like to see in Kanon. I’m not looking to change the overall art style to the new one (though that would be great IMO).

Proportions. Having a modern style only works if you have a modern vision. Currently Hinoue’s vision is outdated, although she is catching up quite quickly. As her style has progressed, her art has gotten worse. Only recently has she started to improve, although if you look at HB you can see she still struggles to contain herself when it comes to characters of certain body types and eye styles.
