Currently Airing Anime

I was gonna wait until all my shows aired but all I have left is a Teekyuu spin-off so…

And you thought there is never a girl online?: Pretty much agree with @Yerian.
Anne-Happy: CGDCT show. A class full of unlucky people sounds interesting but also like they’ll run out of ideas fast (like Shomin Sample).
K-On! Bakuon!!: Seems interesting, don’t know much about motorbikes (and totally not at all like K-On)
Flying Witch: Supernatural slice-of-life I guess? I liked the first episode
Haifuri: Was except a marine based CGDCT and I love both those things so why not but we navy now? Seems pretty interesting despite not what I was expecting.
Haven’t you Heard? I’m Sakamoto: The manga has been entertaining and the first episode was pretty good.
JoJo’s: It’s JoJo’s. My least favourite of the parts I’ve finished the manga for but still really good.
Joker Game: Seemed interesting but idk if I’ll keep it
Kiznaiver: Not sure what to expect really. Crunchyroll was hyping the hell out of this so I thought I might as well check it out (plus I love Trigger’s visuals and has Anohana’s script writer)
Kumamiko: Girl Meets Bear: One of my favourite shows so far.
Lost Village: Another one I’m not sure on, the pacing seems like it’ll be an issue later but I am interested in the story.
My Hero Academia: Really liking the manga and liked the first episode
Space Patrol Luluco: Another great one.

I limited myself to SoL this season cuz last season I finished like none of the action anime I planned to watch.
Anne Happy: I don’t know why I like this
Pan de Peace: same
Flying Witch: it was k. I’ll keep watching
Kuma Miko: lol wut is even this. I don’t know why I like this
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge: it was interesting in that I learned a new way to fall asleep. (not that it was so boring that it put me to sleep or anything)
Haifuri: it was more interesting then I ever thought it was going to be. I legit want to keep watching this. Also I don’t know why I like this
Sakamoto desu ga?: Idk maybe I just wasn’t feeling it but I didn’t enjoy it that much. I’ll watch one more episode before deciding whether or not to drop
EDIT: Shounen Maid: oops I forgot I watched this. It was good enough for me to think I’ll watch more episodes.

  • 12-sai: seems to be pretty standard shoujo, might stick with it if it doesn’t bore me too much, but i still say it’d be better if it was like this
  • Anne Happy: pretty enjoyable first episode, i like the characters and the concept of them being all unlucky, should be fun
  • Bakuon: some slight pacing issues in the first ep there i think, but overall nice, don’t bully the suzuki!
  • Beyblade Burst: did they really get rid of the whole bit-beast thing? that seems like a pretty bad idea
  • Hero Academia: apart from deku’s voice being different from what i imagined while reading the manga, it seems like a good adaption, tho with this pacing they won’t get very far arc-wise, which is a shame
  • Bungou Stray Dogs: like a less ridiculous version of concrete revolutio i guess? okay-ish first ep, but dunno where it’ll go from here
  • Concrete Revolutio: same as the first season, lot of weird things going on
  • Endride: the protagonists are both really annoying little shits, and they srsly need to kiss already, i dunno if i can handle this show for 24 episodes, it’s painfully mediocre
  • Flying Witch: enjoyed that first episode, should be a nice and relaxing slice of life, and it reminded me of kiki’s delivery service
  • Ace Attorney: never played any of the games, so i don’t know anything about it, it’s okay so far i guess? the only thing that annoyed me were that the subs used the localized names, so i had to find subs that didn’t do that
  • Haifuri: i thought this was slice of life? is this a gakkou gurashi-type show? should be interesting
  • Hundred: typical battle harem shit, will drop after 1 or 2 more eps
  • Joker Game: had semi-high expectations for this, but the first ep was a little meh, i hope this won’t be episodic
  • Kiznaiver: interesting concept, the first episode was the intro, so i don’t really know what the plot is supposed to be yet, has potential though
  • Kabaneri: intense start, i enjoyed it, and the CGI doesn’t look as crap as in other shows, it also has the steam/dieselpunk bonus, i like those genres, one of the best shows so far
  • Kuma Miko: a lot better than expected, and interesting humor, those kids…^^
  • Mayoiga: i get what they’re trying to do with this… they’re just not very good at it, the pacing is a mess and the nonstop dialogue seems super artificial, and i don’t care about any of the characters
  • Netoge: silly but kinda adorable, this season’s guilty pleasure i think
  • Onigiri: pffft
  • Pan de Peace: oookay, “bread buddies” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  • Re:Zero: when i watched the first ep i had forgotten the entire synopsis, so it took me by surprise, and i really liked it, another AOTS candidate if it keeps this up
  • Sakamoto: so is this guy like Kyousuke on steroids? pretty amusing, and i’m still surprised how DEEN is actually doing some quality shows lately, i can’t make fun of them for being constantly shitty anymore
  • Seisen Cerberus: this is not how you do a first episode, i’d like some character introduction, some plot exposition, some explanation for anything that’s happening… but we get none of that, very meh so far
  • Shounen Maid: enjoyed it, and it looks fun, so i’ll stick with it
  • Sousei no Onmyouji: not really sure what to think of this yet, first ep was… okay? -ish? the protagonist having spikey teeth annoys me for some reason, looks really stupid
  • Tanaka-kun: that guy is basically a slightly more lazy version of me, and him and his supporting friend have an interesting chemistry, looks like a fun show
  • Luluco: i thought FLCL s2 was coming out in 2017?

Still waiting for Big Order, Kuromukuro and Sansha Sanyou

Mayoiga - Too many characters. First episode, over half of the episode was wasted on character introduction of each character when we wont even need most of them most likely. Very slow second episode. This show needs to pick up. Not to mention most of the characters are unlikable, just from introduction.

Shounen Maid - I love the MC. Very good background. Is this a yaoi ? O.o

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanokojanai to Omotta? - I’ll stick with it. I heard that the love doesn’t go anywhere, but I’ll stick with it.

Watched the first episode of Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge. I don’t know if I will keep watching it. It was kind of enjoyable but there’s way too much jokes… Reminds me of Kiniro Mosaic. I’ll watch one more episode and see how things go.

As for Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, I’m not really willing to try it, so it’s a goodbye.

Still haven’t had time to watch Netoge, but I’ll check it out, eventually. There has been quite a lack of SoL LN adaptations lately, this is this season’s only option, as it seems.

Only started 5 shows so far.

Re:Zero is definitely the most hype. Each episode has been very enjoyable, and I’m pretty excited to see just how many attempts it will take for the MC to get things right.

Mayoiga has too many characters and too little time. I’ll keep watching it, but I’m expecting nothing more than a glorious trainwreck.

Gyakuten Saiban is a shit-tier adaptation, and watching it actively upsets me.

Kiznaiver has a sort of interesting concept, but the first episode was extremely scatterbrained and I’m having a hard time suspending my disbelief as far as the Kizuna system goes (What about accidental injuries? Pregnancy? Illness? Spreading out these forms of pain probably wouldn’t be a good idea…). My feeling towards the characters range from neutral to vague dislike, but that might improve with time.

Bungou Stray Dogs had a very enjoyable first episode, and it’s a BONES action series so at the very worst we’ll get some awesome action scenes out of it.

So at the moment Re:Zero is on track to be my AOTS.

Second episode of Joker Game was as good as the first one. I think this is going to end up my only pick for this season.

Also, my morning on school was kinda similar to Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge first episode, like, my classmate thought I was in love because I seemed tired (where did he get this nonsensical idea, I wonder?).

Yaoi is considered hentai right? or pornography at least. Its not possible to have porn airing on television so there’s never gonna be yaoi anime unless its like ONA or whatever its called on a disc that you have to buy. Also the series isn’t even shounen ai, apparently its just shoujo genre.

Kuromukuro was basically the first Bay-Transformers movie, topkek

I feel slightly boring. I’ve been watching Mahoutsukai Precure and catching up on Go Princess.

I’m big on magical girls.

Not sure why I’m watching so many, but eh
My current favorites:
Tanaka-kun - Dank. The jokes were really unpredictable, which was nice.
Flying Witch - Similar to Tanaka-kun.
Joker Game - Great mind games. I think it’ll be good.
Hero Academia - Has a nice balance of everything. Really like this one.
Kuma Miko - Also dank. This show is so random I swear
Bungou Stray Dogs - I think it’s cool. I hope it doesn’t just become a “supernatural people do things the police can’t” thing.

Everything else:
Anne Happy - Pretty funny, interesting premise.
Haifuri - I feel really critical about this show for some reason. The plot twist was nice, but the episodes started getting repetitive.
Sakamoto-kun - I feel like the gags will get old. Until then, I think they’re hilarious. Also the OP is so intense holy crap.
Koutetsujou no Kabaneri - Like most people say, it’s like Snk + Trains. So far it’s looking pretty good.
Netoge - I enjoyed it
Pan de Peace - Girls with bread. Nuff said.
Sansha Sanyou - Also girls with bread…? I like it.
Re:Zero - “Trapped in another world” meets “when you die the world resets”. I wasn’t wildly impressed by it, but people say it’s good so I’ll stick with it.
Hundred - Default action harem.
Shounen Maid - Take Hayate no Gotoku, but with no harem. It’s that.
Phoenix Wright anime - I’ve wanted an anime adaptation for it since forever, but this is kind of a let down. However they managed to cram the first turnabout into 20 minutes without missing too much, so maybe it’ll get better.

I’ve not been watching much this year (there’s been little of value so far) but I did a little post about my favorite show right now, Re:ZERO, and how it manages to create tension despite the protagonist being able to respawn every time he dies.

It’s got spoilers for everything up to and including episode 13, so if you haven’t gotten that far you might wanna steer clear. If you’ve gotten that far, or you don’t care about spoilers and just wanna hear a show get praise, you can read it here.

My list (I dropped a lot)
Anne Happy This anime made me happy when my days sucked. And if my day didn’t suck it made me super happy. Actually no if I watched this at all it made super happy regardless!
Boku no Hero Just hopped on the manga hype train it’s cool and kept my attention
Haifuri A lot of my friends and the Kantai Collection Facebook group call it, “What Kantai should’ve been” Idk I probably like a lot more than I should but to me it’s super enjoyable
Koutesujou no Kabaneri This was hyped from other people so I gave in. It feels really cliche with it’s story progression but still interesting anyways
Mayoiga Apparently this got a lot of bad reviews as the episodes came out. Still watched it anyways and enjoyed it although it is probably the least enjoyable one on my list
RE: Zero The super hyped anime of the season. It’s deserving in my opinion and I personally have high expectations for it. It has a continuing light novel to work off of which is nice and each episode leaves a lot of room for good discussions. Me and a couple of friends on a different Discord server had a good discussion on the MC and his faults shown in the most recent episode

Picked up and caught up on Aikatsu Stars so far.

I don’t like watching airing anime because of having to wait for the next episode, but this season I decided to watch Sakamoto desu ga? I’m loving it so far. It’s so superficial and yet so fun. Of course, it’s not a master piece, but it will entertain you for sure.

These were the really few series I’ve watched this season. I’m really picky on the stuff I want to watch. XD (note: spoilers here contains the events of the series this season)

  • My Hero Academia - is the one I enjoyed the most this season. Each episode does not fail to bring out tension. Like the next episode is almost always more exhilarating and/or intense than the previous one. Like you thought the Izuku x Bakugo is intense enough? Enter the villains. Plus the characters (for the most part, not a fan of Bakugo and especially Mineta) are so fun to be with.
  • Shounen Maid - (I watched it for the 8bit haha) meanwhile, was a different kind of enjoyable. The comedy is gold and the characters are simply likable. It’s as slice-of-life as it can get, but what makes it so enjoyable is the dynamic between Chihiro and Madoka. And the Mom ofc. She’s like the best girl in the series. And the comedy. Which was gold btw.
  • Bungou Stray Dogs - is surprising slice-of-life-y in it’s approach to the story, being action-oriented. The characters are really likable. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but for now, there’s Atsushi (sue me).
  • Gyakuten Saiban - I don’t know. I know the whole thing is not meant to be taken seriously, but I don’t know. It was wild I guess, and I’m not sure if I’ll pick this up for Summer when I have so many series to watch by then. My best girl died like in Episode 2. T.T
  • (leftover) Assassination Classroom S2 - is very good, but there’s something about it this season that feels lacking. Maybe it’s what the manga readers said to be the number of chapters skipped. But that was the flaw, but the penultimate episode is just pure gold. I was so close to tears. Big thumbs up for that episode alone.

I might try to check out more series of this season (I see Re: Zero getting a lot of hype).

As for the ones I will most likely watch next season:

  • Arslan Senki: Fuujin Ranbu - is probably going to have only 8 episodes, giving it a good chance of being rushed to smithereens. The anime still has 3 1/4 novels worth of content (as a reference, the first season covered the first four novels except for the last part of Vol. 4) to adapt if they want to reach the first ending. The fandom is like one of the most chill I have seen considering this situation… orrr probably because I’m just looking at Tumblr. Although the fandom’s guess is that Volume 7 won’t be covered this season.
  • Rewrite (ofc)
  • 91 Days - looks interesting
  • Orange - looks interesting too
  • Fukigen no Mononokean - looks cute
  • Love Live Sunshine - probablyyyyyyy

This is actually one of the reasons I enjoy watching things as they air. I’ll pick up 4-5 shows a season, and then my Weekend is guaranteed to have a small little 2-3 hour block of just watching the week’s shows.

Cliffhangers can actually have a little meaning, and you get more time to process what all happens in a given episode (or even re-watch it) before moving on to the next. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works for me.

Oh, an anime airing thread?
I’ll share here what I watched this season then, but it’s not much.

Shounen Maid - My favorite this season of the new anime, I watched it only because I knew nothing of 8bit and wanted to get ready for Rewrite, but I actually really enjoyed it, it’s just a simple slice of life but the comedy and characters are enjoyable, and it’s fun to watch a bit of it every week.
Boku no Hero Academia - tbh, I don’t check often hyped animes, and nekketsu (fighting oriented shonen) it’s far from what I enjoy most of the time, I just find boring how they do battles most of the time; I only watched it because someone dragged me into do it, and I must say that I didn’t dislike it, but it wasn’t really a like, I felt kind of neutral towards it

Gyakuten Saiban - Mmh… well, what to say? It’s not bad, but it didn’t impress me too much, maybe becuase I’ve played the games already, I would say that it is a good resumed form of the games and I did enjoy it, so it is not bad, but I don’t know what else can I say about it…

Sailor Moon Crystal (Season III) - After the first season being horrible and the second one recovering a bit… this was actually very good, the recovery was amazing, animation is much better, it is still stays close to the manga and the deviations are well done this time, instead of causing plot holes, it’s what I enjoyed the most

Mayoiga - Dropped it after the third episode, it just felt completely different from what I expected, whatever mystery that could be felt was easily ignored of overshadowed by other stupid things, a letdown

This season, I know that I’ll watch for sure Rewrite, Planetarian and Tales of Zestiria, but I still don’t know what else will I pick

Well, now that the season is closing out, I’ll share my thoughts on what I watched.

Re:zero - AOTS for me atm. I’m a fan of the premise, the cast is generally pretty enjoyable, and the only major criticism I really have for it is that the MC is kind of obnoxious at times. The first several episodes in particular were really fantastic, and while the mansion segment was a bit long, it seems to be rolling again.

Flying Witch - This show is absolutely fantastic. It’s really comfy, and makes me feel great.

Kiznaiver - I had a bit of a hard time deciding what I thought about the show. It was at its best during intimate character moments, but those were somewhat bogged down by the heavy amount of exposition. Even despite the inordinate amount of time the show dedicates to explaining the kizna system, it still felt like my suspension of disbelief was broken numerous times. The drama occasionally felt forced, but was decently handled for the most part.

Mayoiga - I don’t really know what to say. I feel like the entire show was just an elaborate prank, or otherwise the most masterfully crafted shitpost on the face of the planet. If I take it seriously, then it had one of the most awful casts of anything I’ve ever watched, the tension was completely forced and unnatural, and several points of the show had me bursting out in laughter. Otherwise, comedy of Spring season 2016.

Gyakuten Saiban - Completely fails to capture what was good about the game. I dropped it at episode 4. Pretty much what I expected, and anybody that’s watching it and hasn’t played the games should just play the games instead.

Bungou Stray Dogs - It’s on the better side of ok. The action is pretty decent, but not as good as you would probably expect from Bones. The constant shifts in tone are kind of grating, but admittedly a lot of the gags are actually pretty funny. I do really adore the character designs, though.

Sansha Sanyou - Not really a lot to say about it. It’s cute and enjoyable, but nothing special really.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress - I was really liking this show, and then it introduced a silly cartoonishly evil “big bad” who comes along and wrecks the entire thing. It’s not terrible, but the direction it ends up going is rather…unfortunate.

Big Order - Terrible. Absolutely horrid.

And that’s it for what I watched.

I really like doing this, as it allows some one like me (with a short attention span) to watch like 10 shows per season. I really can’t watch 12 ep shows in one sitting; I get bored.

But this really gets to me too ;A;. Cliffhangers really ruin my week if get really into a show.
