The statistics of Visual Novels on Steam - Interesting thread on /r/visualnovels

Just found this thread on reddit, and thought it might make for some interesting discussion.

Of particular interest to us, I noticed how planetarian is by far the most high-rated visual novel on Steam, while also being one of the least popular. How perfectly characteristic of it, heh.

8 Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~
9 Narcissu 1st & 2nd
10 Hate Plus

This is why I hate Plus people. GGN above Narcissu is ridiculous. My little sister could write a more compelling, better written guide to Japan, and she’s like… some years old. Somewhere between 8 and 11 IIRC.

Yay for Planetarian~ maybe it’s still not much popular because is a recent release?
Analogue in 4th makes me happy as well. Still have to play Hate Plus tho.

Well, I already commented my thoughts on the reddit post itself, and I do appreciate the valid statistical methods he is using, but I still think some parts remain unfair >_< Of course popularity is just popularity, at least planetarian is quality

Measuring popularity is kinda silly in the first place, there are lots of awful things that get huge spreading

Plus, VNs like Planetarian have no pull to them. No gameplay elements or Youtuber bait in it.
