If you’ve got a PS3, you can download the ‘iM@S CHANNEL’ app for free from the Japanese PSN. It contains purchase links and natural support for One For All, Gravure For You, and Shiny TV (console version of Shiny Festa), along with a bunch of other fun iM@S stuff.

There’s currently a few animes:

• THE iDOLM@STER (Based on iM@S2, Main 12 Girls, 26 Ep series + Movie ‘To the Other Side of the Light!’)
• THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls (Uses 12 popular characters from the game and shittons of camoes, getting a S2)
• Puchimas! Petit iDOLM@STER! (A very long series of shorts based on iM@S jokes)
• THE iDOLM@STER XENOGLOSSIA (A mech battle anime with iM@S1 girls I don’t even)

So hey if you want a rather tame entry point and have a decent iOS or Android device you should get the new iM@S Cinderella Girls -Starlight Stage- game. It’s a rhythm game like that recent Love Live mobile game but there’s a lot of stuff to do and the main charm is that all song performances are rendered in 3D and choreographed.

Every single Idol you can draw from Gacha has a unique model, and different image/rarer cards have unique outfits for the same character.

Dunno if anyone was following THE iDOLM@STER.KR’s audition phases and news (I sure wasn’t) but they released their debut track from the official finalized ten members of the unit ‘Real Girls Project’ called “Dreaming” (/Kkum-eul Dream) and its pretty good.
