This is the news that many have been clawing at since the end of Charlotte back in October no it's not the episode count.
According to the official Rewrite anime twitter account, Rewrite will air its first episode on July 2! Not only that, but this first episode will be
Man only 4 weeks until the first episode airs.
Time flies so fast
One hour? Wow. I don’t think I ever watched an anime episode that is THAT long. Rewrite got the honour to be my first. But still, why do they need it to be that long? Don’t tell me that the whole common route will be on the first episode? Or it could be about the lengh they need to present ALL the characters except for Kagari. Sakuya and Esaka did show up rather late if my memories are right.
I’ve watched 2 anime (that I remember) with hour long first episodes. Unlimited Bladeworks which was probably because it would have been like 15 episodes or something since episode 0, 1 and 12 were all an hour so I guess the networks would rather hour long than series that don’t fit in the cour system. The other is the second season of Grisaia which I’m going to guess was for flow or something as it only lasted 11 episodes with the 1 hour. [quote=“Kawaii-is-Justice, post:3, topic:2772”]

I wouldn’t worry about that. They possibly could but I don’t think its very likely. If I was to guess it might be Moon or the new route but I don’t see them opening with Moon.
I could see them doing the first half-ish of Moon, where Kotarou is trying to figure things out, and attempting to talk to Kagari. Maybe as he starts remembering things, the common route could start.
Just a thought, maybe.
I don’t really think so… I mean, that would still ruin some stuff related to Kagari. And putting that part in the very beginning wouldn’t really make sense. Maybe MAYBE they could put the part where Kotarou wakes up and hangs around the town as a beginning of the episode but I still don’t think that’s going to happen.
The 1 hour special doesn’t mean they’re going to do weird storyboarding or try to do anything unique. A number of anime have done this in the past, and it’s more or less just airing 2 episodes at once. It just allows them to fit more content into the standard 12/13 episodes per cour and works as good promotion material. The only thing you should really be inferring from a 1 hour special as is that they have the money and production capabilities to do it, which is definitely a good thing.
Man, the hour thing means nothing compared to this.
800 cuts! 800! That’s like… 60-something percent more than your average anime episode. Hopefully they are good cuts and not just quantity>quality.
What does “cuts” mean in this context anyway
In Film, a cut refers to a single camera shot. In animation, let’s just look at this storyboard:
the numbers at the leftmost column is the order of each cut.
I don’t really see what it would ruin, necessarily.
And I meant it in the way that they will return to it later. Like how some shows will start with a short shot right before the climax, and later reach that point and pass it.
I do hope that this isn’t the case, but I could at least see it happening.

As much as I agree with you I really hope it to be a moon or terra route.
Altho I can see why would they want to do a long hour special - basically 2 episodes as you said because I think it’s kinda hard to fit everything in 12/13 episodes when it comes to rewrite.
