I remember talking about making this topic around 1-2 months ago, but soon forgot about it :yahaha:

Mother’s Day was less than a week ago. I was planning on making this topic during that time. But, better late than never right ? Key fathers are great, but let’s not forget about the wonderful mothers !

Well. Who’s your favorite mother from any Key series ? Why is that particular person your favorite ?

Sanae is definitely my first choice for favorite mother. Her caring and loving nature for her family is beautifully represented in CLANNAD. Realizing things in Fuko’s route and Nagisa’s route and After Story, I have gained a totally new respect for Sanae.

Please tag late spoilers from the Key work you might bring up.

This lady, right here. I guess I can’t say much without going into the meat of AIR’s story so let me spoiler tag that.

(AIR spoilers) This lady wasn’t just the kind of person who would make a great mother; heck she wasn’t even a literal mother to begin with. She had the duty forced upon her, despite such an arguably immature personality. But that didn’t stop her for caring for Misuzu any less than a literal mother would care for her own child. Say what you will about her methods towards the end, she is the person who didn’t just become a mother with a snap of a finger: she learned to be a mother through constant growth alongside her foster child. Everything she did, she did for Misuzu, and if that isn’t a sign for an amazing mother, I don’t know what is

I kind of want to make a Key Father’s thread but I know it would exclusively include talking about how awesome Akio is.

Seriously though, there is plenty about the father’s of CLANNAD that can be talked about if anyone else is interested in making a thread dedicated to this.

There’s already a father’s thread. Just go in the search bar and type up the title from this forum, and replace “mother” with “father”.

Please let me take the opportunity to appreciate Rewrite’s (Chihaya/Shizuru/Lucia) Touka Nishikujou.She was a really amazing second mother to Shizuru and Lucia, being very protective of them in particular.

She really shined in Lucia route, where she’ll even blackmail higher-ups so Lucia can live a more normal life. The scene where she (Shizuru) really tried her best to stop the world from ending to protect Shizuru’s happiness, even if it was totally hopeless and she even sacrificed her life in the process, was really painful to read. Kudos to you, Ma’am.

It’s really great that she (Terra) was still able to fulfill her dream of being a mother even when the story changed. Like how do you managed to take care of five orphans at once?
