In commemoration of Father’s Day (in the US), I thought I’d make a thread to show our appreciation of all the amazing dads of Key’s stories. From Naoyuki to Akio and oh god I’m realising they’re all from Clannad aren’t they.
Ahem. Let’s show the dads of Key some love. Who is best dad?

My favorite dad is Kotori’s, because he protects his family with a shotgun.
He sure had a lot of characterisation…
That was really all he needed.
It’s hard to choose the best dad because all the Key Dads (at least the ones I know) have their own strengths. But if I had to choose one, it would probably be Tomoya because of how much he developed into becoming a caring father because after Nagisa died, he spent five years drowning all his sorrows because of what happened, while Ushio was taken under the care of Akio and Sanae. So when he finally does get a chance to spend time with Ushio, he realizes how much he neglected her and decides to turn over a new leaf. From then onwards he starts to care for Ushio and develops into being a kind and caring father till the very end. Don’t get me wrong I really like Akio. I think he’s an awesome father to have; very energetic and enthusiastic but serious when needed to be. I also really like Naoyuki. While he and Tomoya don’t necessarily get along, it’s clear that he wants nothing but the best for his son and he doesn’t want Tomoya to do what he did in the past (neglect his child) . But this is a case where character development wins over character personality and to me Tomoya had the most development as a father.
I actually uploaded a video yesterday with my top 10 favorite parents where Tomoya is on the list and his father is an honorable mention. I’ll post links if you want.
Naoyuki is my favorite Clannad male and my third favorite Clannad character overall~
