Rewrite PSP – Details and Release Date Announced

March 16, 2014 in News by Aspirety

Details of the upcoming PSP port of Rewrite have surfaced! The game will include new voices for unvoiced characters by Rei Sakuma, Hikaru Midorikawa, Kikuko Inoue and Kenji Nojima. Unfortunately, they specified that Kotarou wouldn’t be getting any more voice acting. However, the game will be including the much-requested sprites for Inoue of the Kazamatsuri Academy Newspaper Club!

The game will also include the ability to save screenshots, and included in the package is a drama CD. The story of the drama CD revolves around Kotarou and Kotori discovering a treasure map left behind by the disbanded Treasure Hunting Club, and searching for treasure. The game will be releasing on the 17th of April for 5800jpy RRP.

Now we just have to wait for a pc port of the psp port~!

I love PSP VNs~ Cheap, handheld, and fan-translatable. The amount of Japanese-only releases that have been translated is amazing >.>

Well there you go, finally full voice edition.

Bet Midorikawa and Inoue are voicing Kotori’s parents.

The lack of voice acting wasn’t the problem though, the problem is that characters who are much more important than Inoue aren’t given sprites at all… and it doesn’t look like they’re going to be. And let’s not even counting the utter lack of appropriate CGs in Akane/Terra… what a cheap production, heh.

Maybe the Vita port, if it’s still happening, will have more extra stuff, given that it’s not the simultaneous release I thought it’d be.

@shcboomer: Nothing says that it’s full voice, just that there will be new voices, so…

The Vita port is still happening, only they have yet to announce details at this time.

Then we can only try to hope for the best.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear. I usually say a version of a VN is “full voice” when it adds additional voices to a previous version of the VN.

Ahaha, it’s as “full voice” as it’s probably going to get~
I can’t remember if Clannad Full Voice had every speaking line voiced… probably not?

I don’t think it had voices for EVERY character, but certainly a lot of faceless one-off characters got voice acting.
Same with the very first release of Little Busters… hell, that one girl who confesses to Riki in Rin’s route is voiced by HanaKana and she only gets like three lines.
I keep saying this, but Rewrite feels really cheap in comparison… that, and not getting Morita to do full voice acting for Kotarou even when they were willing to pay him to do the radio show with Chiwa Saitou for like 70 hours… it’s kind of insane.

I can’t wait to get my hands on an ISO of this and try to backport the extra voices to the PC version. Me and Rive once did that for Little Busters! (Converted Edition -> Standard), and unless KEY suddenly figured out how to sign things, it shouldn’t be that hard.

Hopefully it is possible, on the bright side at least we know that SiglusEngine on the PC can be and was cracked for Rewrite. So at least one side of the equation is dealt with. The question left is if there are any changes on the PSP side of things in terms of engine ports.

That would be incredibly cool.
Porting CGs and sprites might be out of the question given the differences in resolution though, yeah?

They could be the perfect size and resolution. The PSP scales down a lot of images without tampering with the file.
I doubt they went through and edited every graphic in the VN… But the key word of all that was “could.” Ahaha~ ^^;

Nope, sorry, the PSP is too weak to do on-the-fly downscaling fast enough (doing it with OSLib takes nearly a second, I tried), plus it has very limited VRAM, which means not saving every byte you can is suicide.

Expect 480x272 resolution on those CGs… unless someone does Photoshop magic to upscale them. Which someone probably will.

I guess my screenshots from the PSP upscale then… @.@

So really… they could just use Harvest Festa sprites?
