Kazamatsuri.org AIR Bookclub Podcast Part 4: Misuzu Route

Concluding the Dream arc of AIR, we present you with the Misuzu Route podcast. First up, I'd like to apologise for all the delays preventing this one from getting out as quickly as planned. There were more than a few obstacles preventing this from being successfully completed, but we think you'll be very happy with the final product. I'm practicing a few different tricks to make the editing process more efficient, so hopefully I will be able to get future episodes edited more quickly after they've been recorded. And also, LinkThinks apologises for the poor quality of his recording in this episode; he ran into some unexpected technical issues during the podcast. Yerian joins us today as the guest for this podcast, and next episode we'll be joined by Pepe to talk about Summer! Don't forget to let us know what you think of the Summer arc in time for the next episode!

As always, the episode has been added to the xml feed, and you can also download the mp3 here. Otherwise, you can view the podcast on Youtube below. I put in a bit more flavour to the visuals for this episode than usual, so I hope you appreciate them!

If you're just joining us and would like to listen from the start, you can find the first episode here, and if you'd like to learn more about the AIR Bookclub, please view our original post.

I figured they want you to do Misuzu’s route first, and other Key novels do this as well, was to let you know why you have to complete all routes. Like, you have to complete all routes to get a good ending with Misuzu. It just seems like most of the time Key wants you to do the first heroine you meet first.

It was definitely worth the wait.

It’s great that you guys managed to answer my Key Points, considering that I spent so much time rereading Misuzu to find them. Granted, you guys burst through my Key Points in a half-hour, so I should probably work harder on my analyses when we get started on AIR. I won’t hold anything back.

As for the rest of the podcast, there was a lot of good discussion. @NotKyon and @Pepe didn’t have a whole lot of Key Points, but you guys did seem to have enough personal discussion to drag the podcast to two hours. Props to @Bowiie for such an elaborate analysis on a seemingly-unimportant detail on a simple cardboard box.

Congratulations to NotKyon for becoming Misuzu MVP! Can’t wait for the Summer podcast! Good luck, Pepe!

Best part: 49:02 - 49:15 (Poor Bowiie… XD)
Aspirety: He’s obviously very skeptical about this
Bizkitdoh: That’s very rude, Pepe
I’m very skeptical about everything xP That’s just how I am~~~ But yes, I was, and still am, quite skeptical about her.

Awwww I noticed that. Poor Bowiie indeed XD

Actually, having mentioned this here and in the podcast, and having myself try out a looot of the choices, I honestly think it was pretty hard to get the Misuzu route. Sure, the choices were obvious, and if you played with the intent of getting Misuzu’s route, you could easily get it. However, there were many places you could screw up, causing you to get a bad end because of that. In fact, once you do get Kano’s “flag” to enter her and Minagi’s route, you will no longer be able to access Misuzu’s route, no matter how many of Misuzu’s flags you have achieved in common. So I, personally, feel that they wanted you to play it last. I don’t remember if I brought this up in the common podcast, but I felt these choices were representative of Yukito’s own thoughts towards Misuzu and the Kamio household.

Final thoughts is that it was a good podcast, as always. This podcast seemed to be a lot more serious than the other ones? Perhaps it was also due to the serious nature of Misuzu’s route, as well. I loved how @Aspirety changed the BG of the youtube video, of Misuzu’s room from Daytime to Afternoon to Nighttime. Also, once again, @Bowiie pulls through with his amazing factoids.

Looks like I’ll be joining in for the Summer route next time around, and I hope I can contribute as well as you guys did this time

Loved the podcast!

Wasn’t expecting this. I played this part a few times. +1

I’m feeling ashamed of my wording for my first key point though. What I meant wasn’t so much Yukito as it was, for example, a classmate. With Yukito we feel there’s a connection there already, since he’s actively looking for the girl in the sky. But with a person from the general public who isn’t looking for a girl in the sky, but maybe falls in love with Misuzu all the same… would that person have experienced the same thing as Yukito, I wonder? A bit late now though. xP I’ll just have to be more careful with my wording in the future.

This makes sense to me as well, taking into account the other Key games. Good point.

Overall I really enjoyed the podcast. There were a lot of “Ah, that’s interesting” moments in there.

Looking forward to Summer and the next podcast!

I am sorry but who is Johnny?

He’s a guard dog of an old lady. Yukito takes a job to go knocking on peoples’ doors asking for junk, and to get to the door he has to get past the dog. The in-game date is around the 21st.

Ah I remember now. Thank you.

Just listened to this. Love the discussion! SO much that I never really thought much about. Though i had to point out, the pig in the room is just one of these guys https://i.pinimg.com/736x/af/a0/17/afa017645854106a35a43ac9e0863d14--piggy-bank-incense-burner.jpg They are used for incense to repel mosquitoes
