Kazamatsuri.org AIR Bookclub Podcast Part 1: Common Route

Here to bring the common route portion of the AIR Bookclub to a close, we're happy to present to you the first of six episodes of the AIR Bookclub Podcast! It ended up being quite a long and difficult road to get this published, but we hope you'll agree that the effort was worth it! Appologies for being slightly late. Originally we were planning for a 2-hour long episode, but midway through we had to reassess where we were going and took a 24 hour break, and came back with a new format for presenting the content. In the end it ended up totalling a bit over 2.5 hours, but considering that most of that extra time can be explained away by this being the first, introductory episode to the series, I hope you'll understand why it ended up going overtime. Trust me - we did our best to keep it short and sweet, and we hope you'll notice how we ended up trimming a lot of the fat mid-way through. With any luck future episodes will be able to be squeezed within the 2 hour time limit without as much trouble. We've already started reading Minagi's route for the bookclub, so you can look forward to the second podcast episode in two weeks time! Don't forget to submit your Key Points for us to include in the podcast!

If you're not familiar with how this goes, in the podcast we spend the 2.5 hours by introducing ourselves and AIR, sharing our thoughts and reflections on the route we've just read, while incorporating forum discussion as well. At the very end we cover all of the fanart contributions, and announce the MVP of the route will be awarded a prize of their choosing. If you would like to find out who the winner was, please tune in!

The episode has been added to the xml feed, and you can also download the mp3 here. You can also view the Youtube version below:

Well, that was a pretty interesting podcast. I can’t wait to get talking about Minagi’s route!

Also, congratulations to @chesca for becoming MVP of the common route!

Aspi becoming Raspi.

About what Pepe said in relation to Misuzu’s simple way of speaking, I’ve noticed this somehow. I wouldn’t know that it’s simple, but she feels very childish. The way she speaks, the tone of her voice, the emotions she portrays… It’s all very…
Well, when she is cheerful or loud, it’s like watching a kid with a toy. When she’s sad, or hesitant, or does that “nihaha” thing, it feels like you are being spoken to by a child who got lost in a shopping mall but doesn’t want to cry in front of people. Something feels wrong a lot of the time.
There are so many points in the common route where I just feel sad listening to Misuzu, even if nothing sad is happening.

Also, Aspi mentioned Yukito’s vague memory, and said that he doesn’t seem to remember where he had been.

A quote from the dub of the movie:

If you know where you’ve come from, and you know where you’re headed, then you are not on a true journey. When you’re on a true journey, you’ve long forgotten why you left in the first place, and you’ve no idea where you’re supposed to go. At least that’s what I believe, now that I’ve been on the road so long.

That’s something I felt strongly about because whenever she does something mature (like I mentioned, the “Don’t fall for me” bit) it just takes me aback for a few seconds.

But yes Misuzu and her entire existence is a preparation for the feels. Sometimes I feel like I wanna cry just thinking about her situation ;_;

The scene where you tell Misuzu that you aren’t going to be living with her anymore is one of the hardest for me to get through because I hate doing anything to Misuzu that makes her sad.

At least you still promise to walk her to school in the morning x_x

That’s not yet part of the common that we covered, though  I guess they’ll cover it in Minagi’s route

Ahh whoops. I guess I thought for a minute there I was in the Minagi thread ><
Not that it’s really a plot spoiler or anything

YES! I had the exact same line written down in my notes. Misuzu seemed so innocent, childish, most of the time, but there some certain points were you think she might be sharper than she seems.

Also, you guys mentioned how Yukito and Haruko got along well because Yukito felt like she was closer to his age. I noticed though that every character (specifically Haruko and Misuzu, but its noticeable with the others as well) treats Yukito as if he’s their own age (well execpt for Michiru). In this way, I think because his age is conveniently unknown, Yukito is able to get along with every character (well, again, except Michiru).

I enjoyed the anime and movie for AIR, I havn’t had a chance to play AIR yet but i do hope I get the chance after midterms and what not. Though I have played a bit of the common route but did not get too far, I did enjoy watching whenever misuzu goes gao gao or nihaha.

Actually, member @Takafumi did a thing for that: A list of all AIR Visual Novel patches and how to install them!

Time to get started! XD

That patch was even mentioned in the podcast and I linked to it in the blog post… lol

i just joined so my bad i just roam around forums looking at little snippits of what poped up.

Thanks and I havn’t watched the pod casts yet so try and forgive me for that haha but yeah I have been just roaming aorund forums looking for things to read and recommendations for stuff. Im still new to the whole VN thing so I have only gotten mostly outdated info.
