Kanon Bookclub Podcast 4: Shiori Route

What a podcast this one turned out to be! The route was unanimously acclaimed by all five people here (and most of the forum), so you can expect a bit of gushing. But don't let that deter you, we got some really terrific analysis and even a bit of introspection

“An arc where you end up with Kaori and you can see things from her point of view.” Great Idea. I’d love to see that!

Also, I think if Kitagawa had gone out in Yuuichi’s stead that day and ended up hooking up with Shiori, Kaori would’ve dropped her act immediately and beat the crap out of him xD

This was one of my most favorite route in Kanon as well. Her route was very well written and it kept up the pacing of the story with how Shiori was enduring so much despite her condition and always she kept smiling to the end. She is really a strong person and I felt her character was very unique and her personality is very sweet and attractive that is how she enjoyed being around with Yuuichi.

I liked the scene where Yuuichi stated to Shiori during the evening on the January 24th that he doesn’t usually believe in the type of cliche drama that she loves but decides to go along with it and kisses her. I also enjoyed the time he spent with her during the school days that she made lunch for him though as treasuring every moment together and living life to the full. I wished it would have been possible to expand upon Kaori’s viewpoint of what was going through her mind as she have to live with her sister enduring her cruel fate that was impending. I thought I was going to hate Kaori because she was really not going to acknowledge her only sister and not do anything about the situation but I don’t think anyone could blame her (except for the silent treatment and acting distant) that it would be very painful for her to accept.

I didn’t realize about the alternate ending at all, so I decided to read upon it. It was strange that Yuuichi had said that he felt empty inside and everything had changed since spring had arrived and decided to look up the class list to see if her name was there but found a first-year student where her class was located. I found it very odd that he no longer wanted to look at the view from where he used to remember back when Shiori. The alternate ending felt bittersweet if not in terms of reality where “Key Magic” was not applied and for Yuuichi to move on with the new school year knowing from this perspective that he now believes in miracles.

2/10. W O R S T P O D C A S T.

Not talking about the miracle quotes too, terrible.

That was an nice Podcast. Maybe I would have wanted to hear a bit more about speculation, symbology and the most subtle things, but it was still great. I’m sorry that I couldn’t join this time : (

See you in the Ayu Podcast! Keep up the good work guys!

I dunno, I guess that discussion on miracles has kinda been done to death? It didn’t really come to us. As we were talking, like it was something that didn’t need stating. I think the VN spoke for itself there.

But sure, some great scenes there :stuck_out_tongue:
