This was one of my most favorite route in Kanon as well. Her route was very well written and it kept up the pacing of the story with how Shiori was enduring so much despite her condition and always she kept smiling to the end. She is really a strong person and I felt her character was very unique and her personality is very sweet and attractive that is how she enjoyed being around with Yuuichi.
I liked the scene where Yuuichi stated to Shiori during the evening on the January 24th that he doesn’t usually believe in the type of cliche drama that she loves but decides to go along with it and kisses her. I also enjoyed the time he spent with her during the school days that she made lunch for him though as treasuring every moment together and living life to the full. I wished it would have been possible to expand upon Kaori’s viewpoint of what was going through her mind as she have to live with her sister enduring her cruel fate that was impending. I thought I was going to hate Kaori because she was really not going to acknowledge her only sister and not do anything about the situation but I don’t think anyone could blame her (except for the silent treatment and acting distant) that it would be very painful for her to accept.
I didn’t realize about the alternate ending at all, so I decided to read upon it. It was strange that Yuuichi had said that he felt empty inside and everything had changed since spring had arrived and decided to look up the class list to see if her name was there but found a first-year student where her class was located. I found it very odd that he no longer wanted to look at the view from where he used to remember back when Shiori. The alternate ending felt bittersweet if not in terms of reality where “Key Magic” was not applied and for Yuuichi to move on with the new school year knowing from this perspective that he now believes in miracles.
