Kanon Bookclub Podcast 1: Nayuki Route

Welcome back, kagikko, for the latest in our series of Bookclub Podcasts: Kanon's Nayuki route! It ended up being a pretty divisive route, and the podcast managed to reflect many different opinions on how the route was written. Hello
Just went through this podcast as I was a big fan of the Kanon (2006) anime (as you said) and now I want to do this VN
It was vert interesting, maybe a bit long to digest in one single part but it was definitely good.
Looking forward to the sequel.

Ooh, thank you for the feature! I’ll be bringing out better stuff for the rest of the heroines.

The podcast brought out really interesting discussions. Looking forward to Makoto Route’s then.

Gotta say, Aspi’s argument on the resolution of the story sounds kinda dumb. He apologised because he did something wrong. Knowing why he did it, having an excuse at hand, understanding himself in the moment… I don’t think any of that matters. He understood Nayuki in that situation, and despite his feelings at the time, what he did was wrong. The apology may be at the expense of Yuuichi’s ability to excuse himself, but if Yuuichi is fine with it, surely we can be.

Oh, and on the topic of Akiko’s grasp of the situation… If she could guess Yuuichi’s 3-sizes joke, she can probably figure out their relationship. Nayuki is an open book, and Yuuichi’s standard behavior is so routine that a single change is very noticeable.

Someone said Ayu is the only heroine who is really noted to have disappeared, but Makoto gets the same treatment. It’s a better scene on a re-read, but there’s something there for Makoto fans.

Late to listening :<

I really don’t think them saying they had a brother/sister relationship made it so. Yuuichi hasn’t seen Nayuki in 7 years, and didn’t really remember her, he probably thinks he should be framing Nayuki as a sister, but I don’t think Nayuki ever really framed him as a brother and it just didn’t take much for Yuuichi to shift gears.

Kanon has one of my favorite settings in all of anime (Japanese media) the snow covered town combined with the dream like feeling and use of amnesia just strikes a powerful note with me.
