Currently procrastinating hard on drawing (sorry!) and grinding to level 90 on Granblue Fantasy… may as well do something meaningless in that time : D
Intro(?): Right… well, where to start off? I began playing this game in February 24 thanks to me finding out the existence of this thread. My first impression of the game was pretty good, I mean I did ended up buying the start-dash ticket for Forte right after a few days of playing (lol); though what really motivated me to pick it up was Kaza members playing it… albeit we haven’t had much in-game interaction
As of 5/3/2017
Reaching level 80 seems like a milestone (4/30)… it may not be HL (101+) but at least I can now host my Bahamut raids to grind even more for my own Bahamut weapons! (sarcasm).
I had to waste (yes, waste) around 100-150 pots to to get to this level from 70ish so that was pretty bad, especially since the announcement for Golden Week special event included 1.5x EXP and half-APs on most quests gets released like a day after… a rough calculation tells me that I could have save a ton and can easily net one level up with just 8-10 pots in comparison to 20 off-event ones.
Grinding: Honestly, comparing this game’s grinding with other ones that I’ve played this was much easier, though being extremely time consuming (lol). The fact that I can do that while typing something like this should go to show that it’s somewhat convenient when you just wanna multi-task to make it feel like you’re not wasting all that time.
There’s a crap-ton of things to grind for in this game, whether it be mats, MC level, character level, weapon pool, weapon skill, GW character, nearly everything in this game involves grinding (even the god damn casino mini-game if you can’t hit jackpot), so if you’re a person who’s into games that have a ton of contents that requires grinding for, you’re most likely in for a treat.
Though I have a peeve for how long the progressing is… You remain at a milestone for a while before being able to move on to the next one in terms of damage and how fast you can kill a raid boss in the later levels (lol)
Gacha: Alright, I’m gonna try to keep my salt off of this post but GOD DAMN GETTING A WANTED SSR IS LIKE STRIKING JACKPOT EXCEPT PRETTY MUCH WORTHLESS
The only characters that are relevant here are Dark Zeta, Vira and Forte
At least the game is pretty generous compared to (I love FGO but for the sake of comparsion) the likes of FGO. Whereas in FGO they’d prepare the F2P players with 1-2 10 rolls for the next gacha, GBF would blast you with free crystals, free 10 rolls, free 1 roll, free giveaway (to test your luck even more), basically lots of free shit for celebrations events; and the highlight of them all, is the Legfest at the end of each month which gives all SSR characters a normal chance of 3% doubled to 6% to appear. Despite that raise, there’s still plenty of salt to be tossed around, but considering how often this happens you’re bound to get something desired at one point…
The game’s character pool is really big too, and that’s actually a huge disadvantage to getting the character that you want or even the specific element, because unlike FGO where you usually get to rely on a single character for element/class advantage, in here, you’re supposed to have, by the very least, three frontlines of the same element as the one that you’re working your ass off for…
And yea, there’s also “Sparking”, basically you rely on the generosity of Cygames and your mentality to overcome the beast’s desire of wanting to roll at every Legfest inside you to save up enough for 300 Cerulean crystals (1 roll = 1 crystal). Personally, I feel like this is possible for me so I’ll be saving unless a really good Dark unit appears in the next 6 months or so I’ll be saving up for a spark…
Device: I took these pictures from my phone because I’m too lazy to snip, but, seriously, if you intend to play this game semi-seriously then get it on the PC (Browser or Chrome add-on) because the frame rates are so much better than what you can get on mobile especially when considering leaving it on all high graphic setting.
It makes both grinding and battling much faster and that’s a must if you take efficiency into account (which you probably should)
Weapon Pool:
My current weapon pool
My current summon pool
Summon pool is decent except for the lack of Bahamut but as for weapon pool… It looks kinda fancy with those Bahamut weapons and the SSR, but it’s absolute trash for my level (lol). To correctly pace yourself you’re supposed to have a decent pool of Omega weapon by now (which I have only obtained a few pieces of) though after reaching the end of your journey in terms of weapon pool, you’re basically supposed to grind for the next element, which is slightly easier if you’re one of the main element between Fire, Wind, Earth and Water since their strength and weaknesses functions in a rock-paper-scissor system.
That said, Dark/Light is a pain in the ass in general, because they get the shorter end of the stick in exchange for fulfilling the wishes of people like me who just want to stick to one element (later discovering that you’re supposed to really utilize element advantage). Basically not only do they get lower chest drops for their Omega weapons, there’s also a huge level of disparity in the “Four Beast” event in which all four main element get these awesome ass weapons easily just by playing the event normally, meanwhile these Dark/Light dudes have to farm those stupid HL raids to get their element specific weapons, it basically expect you to have an even higher level of participation in it to get your desired Dark/Light weapon.
Current progress (note the crystal economy after World War Legfest)
Level: The level cap in this game is pretty high and it got expanded recently too, to level 200, which only less than 10 people have achieved so far so I have a long way to go. Leveling have a very high curve in the beginning where you can get a ton of levels to start off with quickly, though, naturally, this curve begins to slow down to almost a standstill unless you’re willing to put in some game-face on and sit on your ass for hour(s) on end to power level through the thing.
I heard that sliming (Co-op Hard 2-2) is supposed to be much better than Angel Halo for farming levels though I have never tried it since it requires a pre-made party of crew-mates/friends; plus the build required for it is something that I haven’t bothered to achieve… Though if you’re interested here’s a guide on it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Lww1CIvStyD6HPojicRYpqxNCxdup73CYZcp8Rpqhyc/edit
Tips:
With a weak/weaker weapon pool like mine, do grind Angel Halos, because they give you a ton of mats which are very very very very very very important for several things, including crafting materials to doing Grande raids, getting Rusted Weapons for Bahamut weapons, or, more importantly, crafting GW characters.
Save your Journey Drops for 1.5x EXP/1/2 AP events, because stacking with those already existing buffs will boost your farming capability tremendously.
Buff up your Grand Success/EXP rates with Journey Drops when bulk upgrading (lvl 100-150+ anything) because it will make it so much less painful
Try to get to Platinum stage by the end of the month with the Journey Drop system as they will give you a free 500 crystals by just playing the game (a lot).
Farm those rotating bosses (Diablo, Ifrit, Vohu, Corrow, Sagit, Cocytus) because they are very useful for obtaining a maxed out early game summon until you get lucky enough to get better ones later… unless you’re Wind element, in which case you can just cheese it and buy an already powerful summon in the casino with a measly sum of chips.
Main the element with your waifus, at this point I’m playing more for the gameplay itself but the waifu/husbando power level in this game is pretty as far as I’m concerned, if needed one can probably run solely on waifu power to grind the game.
Personal GBF Goal (in view):
-Obtain a GW character (spurred on my burning jealousy of a friend who I met in Co-Op which was around the same level as I was at the time but is now level 101 with the GW character Seox >.>)
-Obtain Naru (synergy with Forte), or Orchid (2nd to best Dark attacker right behind Seox), Vampy/Dark Cagliostro (GIVE ME ALL THE LOLI)
-Obtain a weapon pool that matches with my level (a game of catching up)
-Obtain level 101 (HL)
-Obtain enough crystals/tickets to spark
-git gud
why is this my longest post on Kaza oh what have i done
