With Angel Beats! Heaven's Door completing what it set out to do, this prequel story has seen its last chapter released on the 28th of October in the December issue of Dengeki Comic, with the final manga volume most likely on its
Excellent news, really excited for the new manga. Been waiting for Heavenâs Door to finish before starting it, so think itâs about time to give it a try. Angel Beats! is definitely now Keyâs biggest franchise, hope we get more anime along with the 6 VNs plus new manga but this time give the new anime 2-cour with either P.A. Works, KyoAni or White Fox in charge of animation production.
Something about the âI will drag out God in my own wayâ makes me think of it as a Yuri quote.
I am quite interested in this though. Could this possibly be a continuation of the Angel Beats! story after Heavens Door and before the anime/VN? That quote alone makes me certain that this is before the anime, and after the manga. Mostly due to the fact that if it was supposedly in the Anime-timeline, Maeda would have just put it in the Visual Novel instead of making another franchise to continue this story, and although we donât know how Heavenâs Door will end, I can see it continuing afterwards with this supposed new Angel Beats! manga.
And âTrue Angel Beats!â is also very interesting. At least from what we know, he wanted to express the idea of âLifeâ onto this series. Could be him trying to express the emotions of the members after Heavenâs Door on why they seek this path. He also wanted to make it as an RPG instead of a Visual Novel. Maybe heâs connecting the plot holes such as in episode 11/12 where We are introduced to those shadows, and the âLoveâ man who came out of no where , since it can also give him a good opportunity to make more plot lines that will appear in the next 5 VNâs.
It just saddens me that we have information on the manga franchise, yet nothing on the 2nd Beat, which is long overdue. Although I understand with all things considered. They want to translate the 1st Beat, meaning they also (most likely) want to translate the 2nd beat. Na-Ga (most likely) is the character designer for the ânext mainstream Key titleâ since Hinoue left, so he has to help with that, and the 2nd Beat. Maedaâs health, and the fact that he canât write out everything by himself because itâll cause him stress. This also leads to people like Kashida, who might want to take on other projects too, and not focus on AB for the entirety. Then thereâs Kai who is also busy with his own things. Thereâs Tonokawa too, and he seems to be doing side-projects, meaning he probably isnât as involved with it.
But anyways. Iâm glad the franchise is continuing. I hope this new manga is dark and serious though.
And
Yeah, no. With all things considered, the VN is probably going to need more than 100+ episodes if they plan on adapting all the routes, along with the slice of life and âeventsâ. Especially if Heavenâs Door and this new manga also gets adapted. Thatâll add on more.
I mean, I can see the whole â1 episode per routeâ idea, but Iâm pretty sure animation studioâs realize how pissed fans will be, with how big Angel Beats! is, and theyâll also realize it wonât sell well doing it that way. And even if they do it that way, they would need 24 episodes at the minimum.
I can see P.A. Works dedicating their time to do this series. P.A. Works and Key (specifically Maeda) have a close relationship, and they created the anime anyways. They can also budget for 24 episodes themselves, which is good since most studioâs can only budget 13 episodes for themselves. Only problem I see in this is what team would be handling the franchise. Yes, we can have the original team who did the 2010 anime doing this, but doing the production for a 13-episode anime, is far different than doing the production for a 100+episode anime. Not to mention even then, there were problems with the anime itself, which might make for a risk in a remake with them. You can try the Charlotte team too, but thatâs disastrous. Itâs just that I donât see them being dedicated. When have we ever seen a season 2 of a show they made?
Key x KyoAni is loooooonnnnggg gone. As much as Iâd love to see this happen one day, Iâm certain it probably never will. KyoAniâs new style wonât fit Angel Beats!, with the updated eye coloring and everything. Not to mention KyoAni does 1 show at a time, and in that time, the production of their show is long, since they want it to be perfect, and even then, the anime is really only 12-13 episodes. A season 2? Yes. A movie too? Yes. But anything more than that? No. I mean thereâs a new âFree projectâ that was announced, but it doesnât seem like it would be an anime, unless itâs with all new characters. The last 24-26 episode course season they did was Hyouka, which was years ago. I mean, Iâd love if this had happened. If KyoAni got Tatsuya Ishihara working on this as director, a good budget, and the willingness to do this, then the adaption would be great, since animation, art, music placement, and scenery are all 10/10 for KyoAni. But KyoAni only does in-house adaptions now, with the exception of outside-adaptions when they want to (such as Hibike! and Hyouka). Theyâre also seemingly focused on Violet Evergarden too, seeing as the PV has been out for a while now with no announced date planned, and with 2 shows before Violet too (1 which was already in production /Hibike/ and 1 which doesnât seem like they put much effort to /the dragon maid story/). Plus, if KyoAni ever did another Key adaption, people would rather have a LitBus remake.
I can definitely see where youâre coming from. Theyâve been great at making adaptions that can stand alone as animeâs and be loved by many, such as Steins;Gate, and Re:Zero. Itâs undeniable that White Fox is suited for adapting Angel Beats!, since they can easily budget this with their own money (and more if Aniplex helps). Theyâre also very great at their scripting and music placement, I mean EPISODE 18 OF RE:ZERO, HELLO (excluding the last bits). Angel Beats! doesnât seem like the type of show White Fox would do though. But itâs a clear possibility. But Iâm sure people would rather see a Rewrite remake by White Fox.
In all honesty, P.A. Works should do the anime. Theyâre familiar with the characters and the world. But I hope this manga delivers. We need more genreâs in this story!
Actually itâs ONLY Maeda. According to an interview the CEO of P.A. Works he doesnât actually know much about Key but was approached by Aniplex for Angel Beats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bXy-x0hRHg&feature=youtu.be&t=8m54s
Where did you get this info? Looking at Kuromukuro, their newest anime they arenât on the production committee and all their shows have backing from big companies like Aniplex, Pony Canyon, Warner Bros, Lantis, Kadokawa, etc.
I think you should maybe look into how anime is made. âTeamsâ are formed specifically for the show, while they are sometimes brought back together (I believe Anohana and The Anthem of The Heart had the same team) but thatâs usually not the case
such as Steins;Gate, and Re:Zero
Not in house staff (at least directors, sound directors, or any other random staff I looked at), Steins;Gateâs director just did Orange at TMS Entertainment for example.
since they can easily budget this with their own money
Again, most studios do not use their own budget, they are contracted by the production committee.
Theyâre also very great at their scripting and music placement
Neither script writer is a White Fox employee. Yoshiko Nakamura has written Monthly Girlâs Nozaki-kun, episodes of Shinsekai Yori and did composition for Shonen Maid. Masahiro Yokotani wrote episodes of Free (both seasons and did series composition for both seasons and the movie), Beelzebub (some episodes, series composition), Shimoneta (all episodes except 6) and is currently doing All-Out. He did do script for some Steins;Gate episodes but is not a White Fox regular.
As for sound the sound director Jin Aketagawa has been a sound director at almost every studio
But Iâm sure people would rather see a Rewrite remake by White Fox.

It would have been the same thing because it would have had the same staff so not sure why that would make a difference.
I never said adapting those, was more on the line of original anime/route made for 2-cour length or 2 seasons of 2-cour written and supervised by Maeda. Angel Beats! anime while I thought was really great, it lacked length, I felt it needed another cour at least to get more attached to the large cast of characters. Also adapting the Heavenâs Door manga and the now âtrue arcâ manga wonât be hard as Heavenâs Door is 11 volumes and then will see how the true arc goes. I donât want them to adapt the VN as there are too many choices and is way too long, would rather see them come up with new content that will eventually go into roughly adapting one route, adapting multiple routes wouldnât work.
First of all, it wonât need 100+ episodes⌠You do know they can go original anime like the previous anime series or adapt just the manga or just one route? Adapting one thing doesnât mean they have to adapt every damn thing thatâs related to the franchise.
The so called âCharlotte teamâ and âAngel Beats! teamâ are pretty much the same, the directorâs are different but Maeda still wrote the script/original story for both, same music composer, art director, background artists, etc. The art director for both series (who also provided the background art for NagiAsu) said they had a much more rushed schedule compared to Angel Beats! and the ending setting was only told to them during airing or something like that. They worked damn hard to provide the usual amazing backgrounds on time plus the OST is excellent. Saying theyâre not âas dedicatedâ is basically saying that Maeda and most of the original Angel Beats! staff arenât as dedicated, which doesnât make sense⌠Also they donât have to go for the same âteamsâ studios normally have in-house animators, background artists to keep their style and quality but directors, etc. normally are freelance. You do get exceptions such as at KyoAni.
Theyâre still a pretty new studio and most of their series ended off on a non-sequel note plus quite a few were 2-cour. Also Eccentric Family is getting a 2nd season by them in case you didnât know.
I know that, just listing the only studios who will suit it and be able to do it justice.
I think that would be pointless. Personally I loved the way they adapted the VN, the production values were great in the anime, they focused more on the friendship aspect and left out the romance, which I felt was the right way to go with its themes. It was the best way to build-up to Refrain.
They donât really have a type of show though. They seem to love the adventure fantasy LNs most but they also have Katanagatari, Steins;Gate, The Devil is a Part-Timer!, Jormungand (however you spell it) etc. which are all different from each other.
On that day, the intelligent people of Kazamatsuri received a grim reminder of how you can never talk about Angel Beats! without the plebs starting their season 2 bullshit.
It is a Yuri quote, but why would they end one prequel to make another one? Besides, there are multiple Otonashi quotes, so thatâs obviously not the case. Thereâs little reason to believe this manga will be anything but a re-telling of the anime but possibly with some elaboration on what happens in episodes 11-12. For example, they hint that we may hear Irieâs story with a quote saying roughly: âI was seeing a really long dream. Do you want to hear about it?â
