Key/VisualArt's Goods Sale Event at Gamers

http://www.anibro.jp/maker/va2014/index.html

Looks like throughout the month of August, there will be the chance to purchase Key/VisualArt’s goods on the 5th floor of gamers on Akihabara, I think… If anyone can contribute a better translation and has a better idea of what this is, let me know :stuck_out_tongue:

If only it extended until September T_T I cry

Hmm, they don’t mention what limited edition goods they’ll actually have though…

http://www.anibro.jp/maker/va2014/index.html They updated the page. Looks like there’ll be some exclusive posters?

Oh the posters from last year’s Key sale is there (Kyou & Komari)

Uhhhhggg, oh no.
Have you guys looked at this link within the past day or so? They just released new sample art and it is not good. Seems Na-Ga has attempted to redo Ayu, Misuzu and Nagisa, all of which were Itaru Hinoue’s characters, and failed. I like his designs in Key’s newer works, but his versions of the classic characters just don’t feel right.

Oh wow, that’s uncanny…

…you know, I don’t hate actually hate it. Nagisa looks adorable!

EDIT: Image in question:

Yeah that’s what I was talking about. I don’t think they’re bad designs, they just feel wrong to me. If i didn’t already have an image of what I think they should look like, I would probably love them.

I think they look fine. Similar to the new KeyColle art. Did Na-Ga draw those too then? I’m not familiar with any of the artists really…

I understand where you are coming from though. It took a while for me to get used to the KeyColle Mai. (Still adorable tho =3=) Obligatory Mai picture!

Na-Ga is current art director for Key so its very possible. The more I look at them the more I get used to them, and I definitely think they’re cute, but its kinda like when you see fan art: its just not the same. Who knows, maybe most people will end up liking them.

I think the old versions are more expressive. The new art by Na-Ga looks a lot like… everything else. It looks a lot cleaner, and the eyes are smaller, and the heads are more rounded and thinner. The large-eyed, large-headed art style of the early VNs had a certain personality behind it, but Key have to adapt to suit the majority of a target audience. A lot of people nowadays just think the older style looks ugly (which it can in some instances.)

Oh yeah I totally agree. I love Na-Ga’s art in everything else; it is much more polished than the early VNs. And it would be pretty weird if any company didn’t change and improve over time.

I kinda love the Misuzu. Then again, I’m biased because waifu

Nagisa is not half bad. Ayu feels kind of… wrong

Edit: Typo :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually agree with you on this. Ayu looks weird, Nagisa is okay, but Misuzu is great!

Yeah despite what I said I think I probably like Misuzu better than the original. Maybe thats just because Ive never watched or read Air

I actually like Ayu’s most. It looks the most natural to me~

The Nagisa just looks weird. The space between the eyes is too large. It makes it look like the head and the hair are facing in slightly different directions.
Misuzu’s looks good, and it has it’s own charm, but it really detracts from the charm of the original art - which really enhanced her silly care-free attitude.

…That’s not Na-Ga, guys. It’s definitely Itaru or an Itaru-alike.
Na-Ga draws eyes/mouths differently, look at the Angel Beats stuff on the same page.

No I think its Na-Ga trying to copy Itaru

Why would he want to do that?

They look different from their original artwork because Itaru’s style has shifted significantly since Clannad… looks a lot like her recent stuff, to be honest.

I have to agree here. I’m not sure who made them exactly, but it looks very Hinoue to me. The Ayu/Misu/Nagi.

Mai card has me at a loss. Looked like countless artists took part in those. Her eyes look NaGa, though.

I feel like if NaGa did the 3 girls, then they would be less uguu. They’re way too bubbly to be NaGa. -3-
