Rewrite anime episode 6… The point where everything gets strange.
This episode, I had faith but it failed me… I’m wondering if the people who didn’t play the VN are still enjoying the show (or did they enjoy it before to begin with). First of all, let me show my anger towards how they are using Lucia… If they are going to do some fanservice/Extra scenes for Lucia, I guess they’d do for Shizuru since they’ve finished her stroy by now… But no, Lucia = more fanservice so extra Lucia scene it is!!!
…Why would you sacrifice Lucia for new fans? To be honest, I think that’ll lead some people who haven’t played the VN to hate on Lucia at this point… This I can’t understand.

Second, what the MosuMosu happened in the beginning of the episode? They skipped so many missions and added the animations from YO-SHI-NO for some reasons…

I swear I thought they wanted to rush the oppai ending for a second.

Also, what happened to Kotori’s character…
You all guys know how much I love Kotori… But Rewrite anime is killing me as a huge Kotori fan… You can notice that clearly in this episode… they are showing her as a weak character, that isn’t what Kotori is…

Finally, I’m confused now…what does the anime actually want to show… Terra? Moon? Something else? That wasn’t clear from the beginning, but watching the episode made me realize that the anime is mixing everything Rewrite had together, especially in that scene around the tree…

I will still have faith as there is 7 more episodes to come… I’d assume 2 episodes for Gia now. And then I guess an episode for kotori and then we get to the “new Rewrite” we were promised…

Standing alone this episode wasn’t that great, but it did a lot for the overall story. A lot of progress was made in the common route and next week it seems we are finally going to get Nov 13. We knew from the first episode opening with moon that this adaption was going to change a lot, which honestly is the best if they want to include anything from Moon or Terra, so I enjoyed the small part with Kagari.

I’m glad the animation is getting better compared to the first two episodes but the CG background characters are still so ugly they draw my attention every time their on screen.

It really bothers me how much fanservice they’re using. The VN had parts like that but they were generally more humorous than gratuitous. I remember thinking during the seen where Lucia and Shizuru were clinging to Kotarou “Oh no, its turning into a harem.” I felt like the VN was satirical with its use of tropes and jokes, but the anime is starting to feel at risk of becoming what it once made fun of.

I uhh… what was that first half. That was almost painful. I mean, I couldn’t even enjoy seeing those scenes animated, and the new “gags” were just Lucia and Shizuru fawning over Kotarou. That alone felt like it knocked this episode way down.

In any case, I really wish they had used that time like they used the second half, because, that second half may have been the most productive Rewrite has been so far. We’re finally getting somewhere! I wasn’t expecting November 13th to appear after what’s happened, but, it seems that’s what they’re setting up for. As it is right now, we’re close to seeing the more serious and intricate parts of Rewrite, and that I’m really looking forward to.

Just… don’t throw gags at us like that again, please. :komue:

I’ll just dump here some of my thoughts before I go to sleep.

The first few scenes was pretty mindless fun, if seemingly something that came straight from a LN anime’s bonus OVA. I seriously thought that the anime would legit go for a harem ending lol. (I seriously hope it’s not) The meido Lucia didn’t bother me as much as the Kotarou hugging part though. I’m just not really fond of the A-cup angst trope. The VN handled that part of Shizuru more tastefully. ^^

The rest of the episode was fine, I guess, if not for the glaring quality drop in animation in comparison to the previous episodes, and the music that feels rather off in execution. The last cut before the credits didn’t really help in making the cliffhanger more of a actual cliffhanger.

Not like I disliked the episode or anything, but they must make an amazing episode out of the next one or else. :3

I’m pretty sure that scene in the river actually happened in the VN? But I seriously think that they should step out their game in portraying Kotori (she my best girl too). They have yet to show what made Kotori so amazing to begin with.

I’d have to say this might be the best episode yet. The first half was full of amazing comedy that had me laughing out loud the whole time. Using the occult club missions as a rapid cut montage with Yo-shi-no transitions? GENIUS!

Then the second half hits and we start seeing some really interesting stuff. The dynamic between Shizuru/Kotarou/Lucia now that Guardian is known gives you something you never got in the VN, I really dig it. But mmmm, that argument in the forest. I love it! And to top it off we got a very interesting reveal regarding Kotarou’s past, that may still leave a lot of questions for viewers, but it’s enticing.

And then we get Akane being set up as the main antagonist, and the cliffhanger leaving us hanging out for the much-awaited girl’s 6th route… THE INOUE ROUTE IS HERE GUYS

I’m super excited to see what happens from here on out. 5/5.

I’m not sure what to say about this episode myself personally, but I enjoyed anyways. I don’t know if it was just me but the Lucia fan-service felt way out of place after Kotarou had asked her if she were to wear a maid uniform. The quests themselves were actually funny, though I think the VN did it a lot better in terms of the gags that made me laugh till my stomach hurt. I loved seeing Chibi-moth in the episode, even though the others excluding Kotori, could tell he was a pigmy mammoth familiar.

It is already as others have explained that were getting close to the Nov.13 date knowing that Inoue has suddenly disappeared after the three days since she last spoke to Kotarou. There was that argument that Lucia and Akane had made when it came to environment issues of how the planet is slowly decaying and the resources were depleting very fast as humans continue to make the Earth uninhabitable which made the point across of whose side they’re on. The scene in the middle of the forest which was presented earlier in the anime already shows how Kotarou knows about Kagari during that moment in the Terra route where he had to save young Akane’s life back then and how his life was in danger after young Kotori had to heal him in the forest.

I would rate the episode a 3 out of 5. I look forward to seeing how things turn out afterwards.

The anime is being great in my opinion (I expected a quite bad anime, to be honest)

Maybe spoiler from next episode? (common route in the VN)

I am only quite upset that seems we won’t have yo-shi-no…

I have similar complaints about the episode as the others have explained it but @Aspirety mentioned some good points about the episode too. Personally still dislike the attention Lucia is getting… :mask:

I can get where @RyuuTamotsu is coming from regrading Kotori as there was a scene in the episode where she coughed because the greenery was thick. She’s supposed to be the forest girl so she should be quite used to the forest. If we are to based on the physical abilities/powers of each character, Akane should be the first to cough instead of Kotori?

We get to see that tree and all of them were there. Does this mean both sides know that there is this supposedly undiscovered power spot now? And Kotori’s base is being comprised… Also, that moment when Kotori helped Kotarou up after his flashbacks, not sure if it is intended but that shot of the scene looks very similar in Kotori’s route CG where she was dragging Kotarou back to the town…

At this rate of progression, I feel that we will be seeing Akane’s and Chihaya’s back-story after Nov 13 and then finally ends with Kotori’s before going Moon and Terra?

i’ll just say something #chibimothbestgirl?

I think she coughed because The forest in that spot is unnatural and damaged by the “Rainbow swamp”, which is also why theres no bugs, the trees are rotten and such. Being more sensitive to nature, she would also be more sensitive to spoiled/unnatural nature. Plus (Major spoiler) afaik Gaia is responsible for the Rainbow swamp to begin with, so maybe Akane knew it was there and was more prepared, if I remember correctly she had to pull strings and such in the VN to get access to the area…

It was a cool episode, but I’m really disliking how they’re making Guardian look the heroes of the story.

And how they’re making Akane seem evil.

It was still really cool, looks like Leaf Dragon is next.

Pretty good episode I’d say. First few fanservice part would’ve been better if it wasn’t for that shitty animation regarding Lucia’s 2 watermelon. I mean make it consistent size at least! Yoshino still reminds me of early version of Sasuke from Naruto haha.
Second part was really enjoyable as it showed deeper bonds between Shizuru and Lucia but introduced dark/regret aura from Akane. Only thing that stood out was when she said “Just get rid of humans” Oh really now. So wiping 7.4 billion people (assuming Earth population) is easier than let’s say shutting down a factory? What’s the solution to global warming? Just get rid of humans. What’s the solution to littering? Obviously just get rid of humans!. Was that ever said in VN or just anime only? The way she said it was so awkard and chilidish it reminded me of a 5 year old kid when they throw tamper tantrum.

That was said in the VN, however then its much clearer that she said it mostly to get a reaction out of Kotarou. You can tell its in jest. Even if she partially believes it

We haven’t seen Gaia yet so when they’re introduced they’ll probably try to make things more neutral. Also Guardian really is portrayed as the good guys and Gaia the bad guys for most of the VN too.

They may make her the antagonist like in Chihaya’s route.

So, anyone else noticed that the dial/index of Kotarou’s power changed in the opening?

Only noticed that just now!

It was alright, I guess

Regarding Gaia and Akane’s role . We still don’t know how the story will be. If they want to do a simple, standard plot with good and evil people, Gaia is the clear candidate for the latter, and Akane the only viable character with chances of becoming the big bad . However, it would be too simple, and it’d miss the spirit of the Rewrite story. Also, if the story is going to be focused on Kagari, I can’t imagine how they’ll make that the faction that wants to kill the main character is the indisputable good side.

How will the plot evolve? I’m really curious about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if, in the end, they develop a mini Terra route, with Kotarou entering somehow in Gaia because it’s discovered that his answer was “change the world”, then remembering everything after learning about Akane’s background (showing her as a child today may be a hint), and a relatively similar ending (if not, starting with the moon events wouldn’t make sense) than Terra, maybe more positive and with an increasingly “human” Kagari . Obviously, this is just a speculation. Most probably, something heavily opposed will happen :joy:

Not a fan of the trashy fanservice at the beginning. There wasn’t even a trace of subtlety to it.

The investigation montage was beautiful though. Using Yoshino transitions really was a genius idea. Also subtleties like reminding us of Chihaya’s extraordinary strength, yay!

As for the forest sequence, it was hit or miss for me. The directing once again felt off kinda like in the early episodes as many a scene progression just… didn’t sit well. Like when they found rainbow river. Props to the Kagari flashback though, it’s mysterious foreshadowing done pretty well. Though Kagari then just up and disappears all of a sudden without Kotarou noticing or commenting on it which is once again just such a weird and unnatural way for the scene to play out…

I did like the way they characterized Akane this episode. The early spat with Lucia was good, and the scene later on in the clubroom was pretty good as well!.. except that scene fell into one of my most disliked traps which is that it just ends. Like seriously! Akane drops a bomb and then what!? Does Kotarou just head home? Does he not question her on what the fuck she was talking about?! What the hell. It’s like there was no way to end the scene in any logical manner without having more exposition than they’d like so they just cut it off right in the middle. I don’t like it. Not one bit.

That I have to agree on though. It’s quite intriguing.

Thankfully the plot has been set in motion and it’s not stopping anytime soon, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next episodes are going to be like. We’re barely at the halfway point, after all!

(Almost all spoilers are of late common route, gotta at least start any route other than Lucia’s to read 'em)
I decided to try and watch the Rewrite anime less seriously and lessen a little too much my expectations of it and just watch it just as some kind of “extra” to the vn and… I’m actually enjoying it more than before. This episode was pretty funny. Well, even before the preview was out, I kinda guessed that this episode would be something like and that, that it would introduce Chibimoth, do lots of Oka-ken quests and end it with Inoue’s disappearance. I think I remember that there was some kind of tweet that episode 7 would make people cry or something? I’m not sure anymore but if that were true than it would include without a doubt the 13th night tho except for splitting the Oka-ken, right now that moment kinda feels pointless… I’m sure that the Leaf Dragon would seem just like another one of those monsters that appear all the time after showing Krivoy Rog on episode one… which kinda disappoints but oh well, I don’t care anymore of whatever comes out of the Rewrite anime. Now, I’m just watching it just for the sake of watching it lol.
Anyway, did anyone notice that… THEY DIDN’T MENTION AKANE’S BOOBS FOR ONCE!!! Finally… They kind of made sure to remind us of the oppai promise on every episodes after it was made… Even on Lucia and Shizuru’s serious episode which kinda felt like it was the whole plot lol but… Oh well, they might’ve not mentionned Akane’s boobs but they basically showed us some other bigger jiggling pair of boobs so it doesn’t really matter… But they’re making too much fanservice that it’s probably scaring off some anime watchers lol. I’m interested to see if they’ll keep it up even after… Well, you know… Episode 7. If they do some kind of scene around episode 8-9 where Kotarou says something like “In the end, I never managed to touch prez’s boobs…” regrettfully, that’s kind of like confirming the existence of Oppai Ending as an OVA, don’t you think?
Anyway, here’s what I kinda liked about this episode:

  • The funny scenes felt less un-funny than previous episodes, probably 'cause I’m getting used to the pace.
  • Got to see Meido Lucia!! Yahoooo!! (tho it seems like she’ll just end up as the useless tsundere b**ch with a good backstory made for the simple purpose of fanservice, it kinda makes me wonder if (Lucia route spoilers)she’ll just disappear later to find a new antidote for her poison or if they’ll actually make some use of her)
  • Got to see lots of Rewrite quests animated even tho it went way too fast and I’m sure that some anime only watchers might’ve not understood the whole Tyrannosaur Rex quest.
  • YO-SHI-NO scenes lol.
  • Chibimoth, Akane and Sakuya .
…Pointing out all these kinda means that there was no good point about this episode lol but it was still pretty enjoyable to me. Also, saying what’s wrong about this episode is kind of too much of a tiring thing… I’m trying to be pretty optimistic about the rest of the anime haha.
