Rewrite Anime - Episode 1 "The World or Myself?"

I refrained from discussing this episode because, well, most of you guys already said what I wanted to say. I thought that the pacing was a bit fast but enough to be enjoyable; I also thought that the CG work they did was pretty great. The giant monster at the end (whose name I shall refrain from saying) I thought was done amazingly for CG art. Maybe watching shirobako has made me appreciate CG artists more, heh.

One interesting thing being pointed out, however, is in this blog, who claims that, due to the writer (Romeo Tanaka) being a serial satirist, that Rewrite is pretty much taking a punch at all of Keyā€™s tropes and flipping them over. While I wonā€™t wholly agree with it, it is definitely something interesting to think about, especially due to the nature of rewrite.

Did anyone notice that the area where Kotori was sleeping looks very similar to the area that was used in the title screen of the VN? I donā€™t think they ever specified that it was this particular area in the VN; they specified that it was a tree in the forest, but not this place in specific.

I donā€™t think thereā€™s anyone who played the visual novel and did NOT notice itā€¦ And well, thatā€™s true but itā€™s not really much of a big deal. Maybe for some kind of nice effect? Or just that they liked that particular area and felt like adding it to the anime? Who knowā€¦ It doesnā€™t really matter, actually.

Maybe itā€™s just a nod to the VN readers. What I did find interesting was that in the next scene he just kinda teleported over the water. He probably walked around the back, but still. He must be using that accelerator to get around so fast :stuck_out_tongue:

I finally had a chance to watch it! It was goodā€¦I thinkā€¦The animation felt all over the place - some scenes were cool, some were animated so poorly it was a little hard to figure out what I was supposed to think they were doing. Lots of good facial expressions.

I havenā€™t finished the game, but it was crazy how much ground it felt like was covered. I think it was probably good to do since the plot based action gets hinted at early, and will have to occur sooner, but some things felt rushed. Mostly I think Kotarouā€™s reaction to mystery purple haired girl biting him repeatedly at night. He passed out, but with no window into his thoughts it felt like he was treating being attacked like having an abnormally large cockroach.

The scenes with Yoshino were amazing, and I do really like seeing Kotarou as visible facing forward protagonist.

Random thoughts:
There was a lot of saliva - like an excessive amount
I think they put more effort in terms of animation into the girls intros than anything else
I am not thrilled Pani and Gil showed up - I was hoping they would be cut

Hopefully I get to episode 2 tonight

My thoughts exactly.
