I’m curious. We all love Key in one form or another and I assume it’s most likely very high on most of our members’ top lists if they were to make one, but how many really consider it the best of the best?
For me personally, that’s a no. It used to be until recently, but upon rereading Umineko I realized just how much I really love it, and for now it’s sitting pretty comfortably at the top of my list. It’s not as tearjerking as Key is but it left an impact and impression that has yet to be outdone.
So, who of you would consider (a) Key visual novel(s) to really be THE subjectively best visual novel you’ve ever read? If so, how come, and if not, what does it lack that your favorite does better?
