Planetarian anime coming july 7th and Planetarian movie on september 3rd I believe to my broken understanding of kanji.

That’s in the article http://kazamatsuri.org/planetarian-anime-details-and-pv/

We’ve known that since forever.

My bad been a while since i looked back in that article.

Oh wow, I just realised something after watching the preview! There were lots of first-person shots, with both Yumemi’s perspective and the automated drones. But you know what this means?

We’re almost certainly gonna see things through the Fiddler Crab’s perspective. That should be very interesting.

Oooooh. I like that.

I remember Yumemi saying something about how she was sure the Fiddler Crab didn’t really want to hurt anyone, and that something must have been wrong with it. I’d love to see how they handle that idea.

Right?? There’s so much they can do with that!

Well uhhh… While it certainly would be an interesting thing to see, I think “almost certainly” is too strong a wording :stuck_out_tongue: And if they ever do, it might just be of the fiddler crab aiming at… well… you know

So far the PV had three first-person shots to illustrate three different perspectives: Yumemi’s, the security drones, and The Junker’s goggles. I don’t believe they’re suddenly going to drop that after 5 minutes. We got more first person shots of Yumemi’s perspective in the PV too. They’re using these perspectives as a framing device; I doubt they’d waste the opportunity to show the Fiddler Crab’s perspective and use that to their advantage. I mean come on, they even showed the drones perspective, and they’re hardly important. I’m always enjoying comparing the two perspectives to see what differences come up. Let’s take a look right now!

Yumemi’s view is the one we’ll be seeing the most of, so it looks like they spent the most time developing the graphics for it. We have the Clouds on the left indicating that she’s offline, battery in the top right that will most likely get lower and lower as the episodes continue, the circle indicating what she’s focusing her attention on. Note how she’s focusing not on the gun being pointed at her, but her customer’s face. And we have a dialogue box down the bottom to indicate her current status. There’s a lot you can do with this. One thing that’s immediately apparent though is that her perception is very clear.

Here’s the drone’s perspective. Not quite as much information, but it conveys what it needs to in the short scene: They’re searching for their target and have lost him. The big “Automation” dialogue in the top-right corner reinforces the nature of these robots. They are merely following their automated program to seek out and destroy any intruders. But also note their vision is entirely red. This is obviously meant to convey that these robots are not friendly. I’m sure it’ll be a common trait among the war machines in the series.

What I’m hoping to see with the Fiddler Crab is some kind of dialogue text conveying the logic which leads it to act in the way it does. For example, (VN) assessing whether or not Yumemi is an enemy, and seeing how it interprets her words before deciding to destroy her.

Man, Jerusalem could use this really well if it were animated.

While those are very good observations, I feel it’s really just circumstantial evidence. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them use it, but I think it’s too much to straight-out assume that they will. And, assuming that it uses the same kind of logic that those drones uses, I feel like it wouldn’t convey much information, story-wise. Please note this is me being pessimistic.

However…

This is definitely gonna provide a lot of fodder for those fans who like to point out in-depth observations. I’m not one of those fans, but now I’m excited to see the analysis they dig up!

You called?

But no seriously, I’ve already seen a handful of awesome stuff from the preview besides the FPV-lens shots (Regarding which I hadn’t even picked up on intially until Aspi pointed it out) That said I’ll most likely be the first around here to start gushing over the cool minor details and nuances once we see some more content.

We already see it go down in the preview. When the Junker goes up to the computer you can see it tick down from 98,37% to 98,36%.

Next Dengeki G’s (comes out tomorrow!) seems to be a planetarian-focused one!

Cover looks glorious

As does this dedicated page

They posted a cleaner version of the cover. It’s not perfect but close.

Also the second one is clearly ripping off Kagari.
