How much were the paintings? Without knowing what was sold it’s hard to predict, but I’ve seen original art from Hinoue and Na-Ga sell anywhere from ¥60,000 and ¥210,000 with canvas reprints going for ¥10,000 to ¥20,000.
@Pepe can probably give you a more accurate idea, but I think it was Rin by Na-Ga and Kurugaya by Hinoue framed and hand-painted by their respective designers and I think they went for ¥1.2 million (together) T__T
Well, I honestly didn’t understand what they were saying, but it naturally follows that Na-ga painted Rin and Itaru painted Kurugaya, as they designed those respective characters. But yeah, expensive paintings are expensive! They deserve to go to an art museum, one day
They were painted too? That, and the fact they sold at a charity auction, likely boosted their value. That is quite a pricetag!
Like I said in my article, if professional paintings can go for thousands of dollars at auctions, why shouldn’t anime paintings?
Just an FYI to everyone here… VisualArt’s has just officially confirmed on their newly formed English Facebook page that they will be attending the following conventions:
CharaEXPO (Singapore) June, 20-21
JapanEXPO (Paris) July, 2-5
AnimeEXPO (Los Angeles) July, 2-5
I’ll be in Los Angeles for the Anime Expo this year as well. I hope to see the rest of you there too! =D
But… It already says that in the article above. We’ve known about it for ages!
Yeah but the English-speaking community doesn’t… oh wait…
We one-upped VisualArt’s on that note
I felt it was noteworthy since this topic’s linked article referenced an interest in attending, though this post represents confirmation of their approval. My understanding is that it took time for VisualArt’s attendance application to be filed and that Anime Expo had to approve it as well. The fact it is in English from them is cool too. Regardless of the circumstances, it’s nonetheless exciting news!
