It isn’t doki’s fault but it still a negative or a disadvantage. You know takafumi, that is so true I hate when things get spoiled before you read it. To me that sounds like a huge disadvantage to waiting many many years, being a fan of little busters for so long but trying to avoid it at the same time, so I wouldn’t see spoilers, but then at some point cause of the long wait the spoilers found me. Parts of the story are no longer secrets, so for me waiting has ruined it quite a bit, so I am glad I can go right to it this time around.

For me, I always treat the anime as separate from whatever. I am glad I watched that horrible anime called umineko, because all the fans told me “read the vn it is way way better than the anime” so I did and it ended up leaded me to something really awesome. Air was the same way, the main reason why I read air was I felt the anime was lacking, When I read it I did not feel like it ruined it for me at all, only made it better. Also I read that horrible early beta patch where the common was really poorly translated, it had lines in it like, “went to store” But the thing is even though that made me enjoy it less, there is a new patch now… so I can enjoy it again and more so. Now about little busters anime, it is not the best addition but it was for sure better to have it than not to. They even made PE because the anime sparked it up enough for them to release a new edition along with the anime. When the doki ME patch comes out it will be a good addition, but it hasn’t came out yet has it? Will doki ever release it? Wait what?

Remember how awesome the doki clannad patch was! that was sooo good! Whoops they dropped it and sekai has it nvm hint hint… (who is to say ME has not been scooped up already, that would explain the stall…)

You guys just need to enjoy what you’ve got. Just buy the game, come on this is key’s first time to release English so early… Don’t you wanna give them your money so key can grow and improve in the English market? That is how I feel at least. If you really hate the translation and know Japanese just buy the Japanese version, oh wait that is probably going to be in the steam version too…

There is no way you are going to convince me that an early official English key game release, is a bad thing… They are reaching out to us lol.

If you’re implying Sekai is doing LB than VisualArt’s and Sekai Project constantly saying “Depends on how Clannad does” would say if they have ME or not.

We also send the message a subpar release is fine.

You don’t have to know the original language to know if it’s a bad translation. If the sentences look like something I’d write in middle school then they’re probably a bad translation. Do you really want another “If My Heart Had Wings” situation with sentences almost unreadable at points? It was so bad that the fan made patch released to readd the Hscenes included a translation fix.

I don’t think anyone is saying this. What people want is a good translation. Nintendo’s able to launch the recent Pokemon games within a week worldwide and their translation is fine. Nekopara has released WW for both Vol. 1 and Vol. 0 and it was fine.

I’m not going to judge it based on the early screens. All my points only hold if the game’s translation is bad or the sentence structure is what a 6th grader would write.

Hey, look guys, we dont need to go to extremes. The sample text shows no evidence of being a totally crap translation, but it is also clearly not the paramount of English language. There is no cause for people to get mad just quite yet, but we also shouldnt just “be happy with what we get.” We have entered a new era, with official, high-quality TLs, and VA has specifically asked for feedback, so we should give it, like @Aspirety said, on the Greenlight page.

Remember, its just a sample! Not only is it not necessarily representative of the entire VN, but it is also completely subject to change.

Also, all this Doki stuff is off-topic. Please do not continue that discussion here.

Didn’t people complain about LB’s script, or grammar, or whatever ? It still turned out fine.

I don’t think so, actually. If they get a lot of negative votes, that pretty much just gets across that we don’t want their stories here, not that they did a bad job translating. A message that subpar releases aren’t fine can only get across if you’ve already established that releases in general ARE fine. As for me, I certainly prioritize getting the message that releases in general are fine across for now. If that bit’s been established to a good degree, more constructive criticism gets across that much easier.

The harmonia greenlight page got an update. Looks like we will be able to change the font and they added two new screenshots with different fonts. I don’t have a problem with the standard setting but I guess it’s a good thing that there’s an option to change it.

We already have planetarian and supposed to have Clannad first. If Harmonia has a mediocre translation and does the worst of the three I’d hope they realize why. Especially since they do appear to be reading the Greenlight comments.
