The topic was Yukito & Kud+Strelka+Belka…Because I love all of them- then I drew them in one sketch…

Unfortunately, I learned about the oekaki late. I don’t know what it is, actually, so I’m guessing it’s a drawing event or something.

Uwaaah, I hadn’t seen that last one. That’s a really interesting choice of scene to draw! It invokes a lot of complex emotions. Thank you so much for taking the time!
As for Oekaki, I wrote up an article about it a month or two ago. It’s evolved over time to include two topics instead of one, but it’s pretty much the same. The only thing I forgot to mention in the article (didn’t know at the time) is that if you do participate, you need to avoid using any English words (or ANY roman characters) in your tweet otherwise it will ignore you. Silly gaijin block, I guess.
Don’t worry, there will be more AIR Bookclub-related oekakis in the future!

I like how clean and simple your art is. And your lineart’s good. You could fix up painting Yukito’s hair a bit, and perhaps add more colors in your background since Yukito’s design doesn’t stand out that much. Needs a bit of life and energy that’s all~ The puppet raising the juice box really stands out =D

Painting hair (and clothes) has always been my problem. I just couldn’t get the feeling right. Like, where should this strand goes? And it is very hard to do it with a mouse. I have never used a tablet, but it is harder than scratching the lines on the paper (which I guess a quite similar fashion).
Background! I… I can never do that. My background always ruin the whole image. ._.

Now I’m sure most of you are aware that I’m not very talented. I can’t draw or play music, so I decided to do something a little different for the bookclub. Definitely stretching the definition of what constitutes as ‘fanart’, but bear with me.
I decided to go on an adventure. To take a step through the path of Yukito’s character. And what better way to do that than head over to the beach on a hot, Australian summer day? And with me, I brought something I prepared earlier:
I went and made Yukito’s giant rice ball! It’s truly an abomination. I couldn’t believed it survived the entire trip to the beach in tact.
It’s edible! Boring taste maybe, but edible!
Pondering what lead me to this point in my life. We got some weird looks and amused comments from passer-bys.
Passed out by the ocean.
Luckily, I managed to find myself a ramen set on the way home!
And there you have it. Shoutouts to my housemate Josh for taking the time to come to the beach with me and photograph my shenanigans.
